Information about the position

Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are interested in people, who overcame some hard technical challenges, so they have stories to tell. We will listen.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the availability and reliability of critical platform services and applications, ensuring they meet the requirements of internal and external users. You will also initiate the improvement of existing systems, tooling, and processes, to improve our food delivery management system. It is not fun having delayed or cancelled orders, so the st(e)akes are high.

Your job would also be to help to create a no-nonsense, delivery-focused culture of an operations team and spread it beyond its borders. We are still a pre-container era, so expect some transition and learning is going to happen #migrationsarefun.

If you care about work-life balance, then this position is not for you, work outside typical working hours and days is not unheard of, but in return, anything is possible, when your work is done.

If you are willing to negotiate and learn, this position is also suitable for less experienced candidates.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Your main responsibility is to make sure that our site or service is running well and to do this you have a lot of existing tooling to help you with that
• We would appreciate it if you would proactively improve things which also means being on duty, especially Friday evening
• Outages and active help with resolving them. Analysing and writing post-mortems-we like to know why we have failed and how to improve & act on it
• You will build software tools and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications to:
- Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
- Improve the development process, code quality
• You will provide infrastructure support to various teams and projects, by helping them have a feedback loop from production
• After a few months you should have your own vision of how to improve things and try to realize it.

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements:

• You can write and speak in English, hold longer conversations
• You are reliable and capable of delivering on your promises, your word means something
• Ability to accept your fails and work with it
• Ability to ask for help, we are not looking for a superstar, but an addition to a team
• Open to learning new concepts and technologies
• While company benefits are important, the best benefit of all is having a great team around you and services without an outage
• Previous work on customer support, or any work with direct interaction with a customer
• Multi-year experience of working with a production system that was providing some service to a significant number of users
- You know the stress of running such systems
• Know how to build systems and services at scale, know its challenges
• You have operating system background and have at least a theoretical understanding of how complex systems works (clusters, filesystems, networking,)
• Our environment is Linux/Ubuntu based, so profound experience with CLI is expected
• Experience with building automation systems – Ansible, Saltstack, Puppet or anything else, so you understand what it is all about
• Experience with cloud-based environments AWS/GCE/Azure/Openstack
• Experience with monitoring tools like Zabbix, ELK stack, Prometheus/Grafana or others
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, git hosting services, static code analysers
• Bash scripting at the level where you do not do cat file | grep
• Unix development tools knowledge – strace, gdb and others....
• You know that DevOps is not another fancy name for system administrators
• You have experienced or did an outage at the level that you have thought you will not recover from and thought about leaving for another country with a different name
