Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are seeking a skilled and experienced engineering manager to manage our Slovak software development operations. This full-time position will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and will be based at our office in Zilina, Slovakia; with occasional domestic and international travel.

We’re looking for someone with broad experience and knowledge who can apply good commercial judgment and sound engineering practices to all our teams.

The successful candidate for this role will have experience leading—not just directing—successful software development teams. You will work very closely with the product owners, architects, and strategists who specify the business and technical requirements for our products; then lead the development team to deliver high quality software to our customers.

You need to be able to participate fully in driving technical and architectural discussion, and ensure that design, coding, test, and delivery follow our company standards.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Managing large multi-disciplinary development teams
• Tracking and driving schedule progress
• Establishing and tracking KPIs for development velocity and software quality
• Recruiting, developing, and motivating staff, intern, and contract developers
• Serving as the connection between Quadrotech executive management and planning teams and the development organisation.

Required skills and Experience
• At least 9 years leading software development teams
• At least 4 years experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Excellent working knowledge of development frameworks and integration technologies, in particular .Net and C#
• Experience developing and managing operating budgets
• Experience with people management, including performance management
• Demonstrated record of successfully shipping commercial software applications
• Experience managing multiple projects and teams concurrently
• Fluent written and spoken English and Slovak
• Legally able to work in Slovakia

• Experience developing SaaS/cloud-based applications
• Familiarity with the React framework
• Experience managing the transition from traditional development models to a devops-centered continuous integration/continuous deployment model
• Experience developing applications in Amazon Web Services and/or Microsoft Azure
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or other SQL platforms
