Job description, responsibilities and duties
Position: Head of Legal Slovakia
The Head of Legal will act as primary legal support for the companies in Slovakia. The Head of Legal is responsible for the legal affairs of the company and for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Head of Legal provides legal advice on a variety of issues to the senior management. Head of Legal is reporting to the Country Manager and to the Group Legal Manager.
Main Responsibilities:
• Delivery of legal services to accomplish corporate goals and to promote and protect the company's business;
• Preparing, reviewing and negotiating company’s contracts (e.g. lease agreements, supply agreements), requests for proposals and other legal documents;
• Providing corporate and commercial legal advice;
• Ensuring implementation of the company’s corporate governance or regulatory affairs matters;
• Providing legal support and documentation for the general shareholders meetings and board of directors’ meetings;
• Consulting with the senior management on the company’s matters with possible legal impact;
• Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust
• Liaising with and coordinating the missions entrusted to external lawyers;
• Advising on labour law matters;
• Advising on pre-litigation issues and ensuring representation in front of local courts, as well as overseeing the litigation processes entrusted to external lawyers;
• Anticipating potential legal problems and developing strategies to reduce potential areas of risk;
• Liaising with Group Legal Manager and supporting the Group legal initiatives;
• Providing legal support to Group DPO in respect of legal implications in Slovakia concerning application of GDPR and local related legislation;
• General compliance matters (e.g. support on AML matters).
Required Education & Experience:
• Law University Degree
• At least 10 years practice experience as lawyer or in-house lawyer in a large organization;
• Relevant expertise in real estate, corporate and commercial law;
• In-depth understanding of how legal issues affect organizations;
• Ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English language;
• Computer literate and fluent in MS word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, email and internet
