Currently, we are looking for a Wordings Counsel to join the Wordings Team to be responsible for reviewing, negotiating & creating insurance contracts for all our teams (direct, inwards and ceded reinsurance, London and Bermuda) as well as providing guidance and training on legal and contract issues. You will also work on contract-related systems projects and processes, including the management of our Contracts Repository. The Wordings Team provides a combination of legal and market experience from highly experienced individuals.
Your Tasks:
• Draft bespoke/lead contracts and negotiate improvements to existing (Re)insurance contracts.
• Provide technical and coverage advice to underwriters during contracts negotiations
• Provide drop-in/surgery style advice to underwriters on a range of contracts related issues
• Provide contracts and coverage expertise for new business pitches
• Provide technical and drafting support surrounding the formulation of new products
• Work with the underwriting team to advise the business on a wide range of matters or projects relating to contracts
• Support the business by researching and monitoring insurance and contracts related developments and know-how
• To provide training to colleagues on legal/contracts related topics
• To communicate and negotiate with external parties (brokers, clients, external counsel, regulator etc.), creating trusted relationships

Candidates with education suit the position
University education (Master's degree)
Language skills
English - Upper intermediate (B2)
Experience in the position/sector
5 years of relevant experience in (re)insurance contract management
Personality requirements and skills
• Experience in an in-house environment within the insurance sector
• Prior experience advising on policy wordings either in a general or line-specific capacity
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of insurance law and the insurance market
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity
• Sound judgement and ability to analyse complex matters and technical information
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organisation
• Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within legal and underwriting departments and across all business functions
• Prior experience advising on policy wordings either in a general or line-specific capacity
