Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are Spolu s odvahou foundation, part of a regional Central European nonprofit organization Bator Tabor, serving thousands of seriously ill children since 2001. We provide free recreational therapy programs in Slovakia, Poland, Czech and Hungary. We are looking for an energetic, whole-hearted, hands-on Program Specialist to oversee and implement our programs in Slovakia.

Serious illness often isolates the child from their friends, disrupts the usual family life and damages the carefree childhood with fear and loss of self-confidence. Spolu s odvahou foundation is here to provide healing experiences that result in a long-lasting positive boost on a child's self-evaluation, confidence, inner strength and courage to keep going and to keep fighting. All that packaged in fun camps, hospital, school programs and workshops in a medically safe environment where everything is possible and no disease impedes a child from living their best life and have tons of laughter. Tasks and responsibilities:

Volunteer Coordinator

  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers for both online and in-person programs, in close cooperation with other program team members

  • Coordinate volunteer engagement, scheduling, and communication across different programs

  • Build and maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive volunteer community

  • Foster strong relationships with volunteers, ensuring they feel valued, motivated, and connected to the mission of Spolu s odvahou

  • Prepare and distribute the volunteer newsletter

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records, including agreements and personal information in the volunteer database

  • Organise volunteer meetings, appreciation events, and community-building activities

  • Close collaboration with program team to identify volunteer needs and continuously improve the volunteer experience

  • Budgetary Oversight: Assist the Country Lead in monitoring and maintaining related budget to ensure cost-effectiveness

  • Growth & Strategy: Ensure smooth delivery and identify strategic opportunities for further development and scaling

  • Supervision: Support the preparation, supervision, and emotional well-being of volunteers, ensuring they are well-equipped to support the children during the programs.

    Quality Assurance & Representation

  • · Standards & Safety: Guarantee that all activities meet the SeriousFun Children’s Network Criteria, as well as the safety standards and core values of the Spolu s odvahou Foundation.

  • · Brand Ambassadorship: Represent the foundation’s mission, values, and "therapeutic recreation" spirit in public spaces and professional settings upon request.

Ad-hoc team support (mainly organizational support)

  • A valid driver's license and access to a private car are an advantage. Occasional use of a private vehicle for work purposes may be required, with all business travel expenses fully reimbursed.

  • Knowledge of the Hungarian language is an advantage.
