Job description, responsibilities and duties

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking to hire a passionate communications professional for the role of Ukraine Crisis Communications Manager. The Ukraine Crisis Communications Manager ensures that communications about Habitat for Humanity’s response to the Ukraine crisis and our work in Central and Eastern Europe reflects the organization’s strategy, helps generate support for that response and increases awareness of Habitat’s disaster and emergency response work. The Communications Manager does so by coordinating closely with both local Habitat organizations responding to the crisis in countries such as Poland, Hungary, Germany and Romania, as well as those Habitat organizations raising support for the response.

The Communications Manager maintains clear communications goals related to the crisis, promotes a compelling narrative around Habitat’s response across geographies and coordinates with communications staff across the Habitat network to help tell the story of Habitat’s response in keeping with the organization’s communications standards and brand. This person works closely with the leadership of Habitat’s Ukraine response as well as colleagues in the larger Global Communications department.

The ideal candidate is passionate about the cause of affordable housing and providing relief to those impacted by the crisis in the Ukraine.

This position will involve approximately 25% travel in the region.

* Work closely with Ukraine response leadership to ensure Habitat communications reflect and help advance the organization’s response strategy.
* Coordinate content gathering and storytelling in countries where Habitat is responding to the crisis, taking into account the needs of key internal stakeholders in fundraising, advocacy, marketing and programs.

* Review and edit key content and tools such as stories, photos, videos, press releases and talking points.
* Distribute communications assets to the Habitat network, gaining feedback of them and adjusting as necessary.
* Help coordinate media interviews and other external communications opportunities related to the crisis, including preparation of key spokespeople.
