Job description, responsibilities and duties
Key Accountabilities:
• The Merck Security Operations Center (SOC) element covering the European time zone (follow-the-sun) is located in Bratislava, Slovakia. The key accountabilities for this position include:
• Triaging security alerts to determine criticality and potential impact to business operations
• Executing response actions, according to predetermined play books, in order to remediate security risks
• Gathering data from various sources and performing investigations for ongoing security incidents
• Performing root cause analysis on closed security incidents and recommending actions to prevent recurrence
• Coordinate with other BT units to execute non-standard response actions
• Provide verbal and written reporting on cyber security incidents
• Support cyber defense exercises to help improve detection and response capabilities

• Knowledge of IT and Cyber Security concepts
• Knowledge of SIEM, ITSM tools (ie ServiceNow) and various security technologies (firewall, endpoint protection, IDS, etc.)
• Strong analytical skills and ability to think strategically
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Highly developed interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Prior experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) detecting and responding to security incidents preferred
• Experience in field of IT mandatory
