Legal Counsel

Key Responsibilities

General Legal Support & Compliance

• Provide expert legal advice on corporate governance, company law, and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory developments relevant to the business and assess
• their impact.
• Ensure compliance with Slovak laws and internal policies across all business functions.
• Lead and maintain data privacy compliance, including risk assessments, documentation and employee awareness.
• Provide legal support on labor law issues

Commercial & Contractual Matters

• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts (e.g., procurement, distribution, marketing, IT, and service agreements).
• Support procurement and commercial teams in structuring legally sound and commercially viable agreements.
• Liaise with external counsel on complex legal matters, litigation, and regulatory proceedings.

Real Estate & Development

• Provide legal support to the Development team on:
• New store openings, including due diligence, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
• Lease agreements – negotiation, drafting, renewals, terminations, and amendments.
• Real estate transactions, including acquisitions, construction permits, and zoning issues.
• Cooperation with landlords, developers, and public authorities.

Compliance & Ethics

• Support the implementation and maintenance of internal compliance programs.
• Conduct internal training and awareness sessions on legal and compliance topics.
• Ensure alignment with global and regional compliance frameworks.
• Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Act as a strategic legal partner to business leaders, providing risk-based and solution-oriented advice.
• Represent the legal function in cross-functional projects, committees, and business initiatives.
• Collaborate with regional and global legal teams to ensure consistency and alignment of legal strategy and policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s degree in Law.
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in a multinational company or reputable law firm.
• Strong knowledge of Slovak commercial, corporate, real estate, and data protection law.
• Experience working independently and managing a broad legal agenda.Strong project management and organization skills
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Action oriented with a close attention to detail
• Fluent in Slovak and English (written and spoken).
