Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are looking for a candidate with automotive purchasing background who will lead negotiations for selected direct commodities.

  • Creation and update of existing (current) pricing in SAP as well as participation in multi-year price negotiations (part number or revision level changes)
  • Change management with regard to costs, deadlines, feasibility and timely implementation of changes in coordination with other departments
  • Requests for quotation and price negotiation for changes in terms of quantity and maturity in production series as well as adjustments of agreed supplier capacities
  • Ensuring timely contracts and orders placement for materials, tools and services
  • Coordination with Supplier Quality Development (SQD) to increase quality performance and reduce quality costs per supplier, support by new supplier/components qualification (APQP, PPAP, PSW etc.) and new program launch activities
  • Alignment with SQD to implement Lean projects. Conducting cost offensives and cost optimization workshops with suppliers
  • Representing purchasing in internal committees
  • Coordination of measures to ensure continuous production supply (in case of production bottlenecks/threats) in cooperation with other departments
  • Initiation and control of measures as for critical suppliers and supplier insolvencies
  • Responsible for proper communication and agreement of supplier capacities and technical stands
  • Ensuring supplier compensation payments in case of claims, assembly stoppages or freight and packaging discrepancies
  • Reporting and KPI´s tracking on regular base
  • Supplier evaluation activities
  • Cost study activities in the field of material costing and supplier capacity changes

Personality requirements and skills

  • English – fluent
  • University or technical college studies with economics or technical specialization or equivalent education
  • minimum 3 years’ experience in materials management/purchasing in international automotive environment
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office
  • Knowledge of SAP purchasing systems (module MM) is desirable
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English; German language in addition is an advantage
  • Strong business understanding, good analytical and strategic thinking
  • Professional behavior and strong negotiating skills with internal and external entities
  • Open to learning new things in the automotive and e-mobility fields
