Information about the position

Job description, responsibilities and duties

- Development of Tribology business within Europe in line with company growth targets
- Generating new businesses according to a regional strategy
- Identification of key business opportunities
- Developing strong client relationships (regular meetings, follow-up)
- Achievement of annual financial performance targets
- Regular identification of client´s needs and information about competitive market prices
- Providing regional market knowledge and execute business development functions, such as market research, competitors analysis etc.
- Management and on-going monitoring of all activities relating to operation of the laboratory; including staff resources, quality, safety, workflow, equipment maintenance and efficiency, method development, and laboratory consumables
- A high level of commitment to client needs, by providing timely feedback
- Managing the staff, including having the appropriate level trained staff to perform workload, conduct performance evaluations of all direct subordinates. Direct reports will include sales and laboratory operations staff
- Facilitate timely and effective communication at all levels within department/lab; including generation of workload or project status updates as requested
- Ensure laboratory production meets turnaround time and data quality requirements.
- Plan for capital investment requirements to support continued business growth
- Preparation of annual budgets and monthly reporting of business stream performance
- Promote a unified approach to ALS's business direction by supporting marketing efforts, policies, and cooperating with other department/labs, and locations
- Ensure that OHS&E system are in place and followed, and legislative or best practices compliance issues are observed

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Driving licence

B

Personality requirements and skills

- University degree or higher technical education
- Ideally technical/scientific background (e.g. chemistry, Tribology, oils and operating fluids analysis),
- Business acumen, sales skills
- Proven experience lubricant and coolant testing, minimum5 years
- Leadership skills and proven experience with people management
- Good command of English
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel across Europe; Clients and ALS Europe branch offices)
- Good negotiation skills with focus on “win win” solutions
- Good analytical skills, with attention to details
- Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- P&L management experience
