What will you do? 
As a Senior Data Engineer at Cat Digital's new Slovakian branch, you will contribute to design, development and deployment of Caterpillar’s state of the art digital program. You will be responsible for:

• Development of applications, project management, and complex assignments.
• Development of application focused around delivering business valuable features.
• Mentor and assist other engineers, providing technical assistance and direction.
• Identifying and encouraging areas for growth and improvement within the team.
• Guiding the team to developing a structured code, new program documentation, operations, documentation, and user guides.
• Communicating with end users and internal customers, helping them with development, debugging, and testing.
• Performing integrated testing to ensure timely, quality results.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Number of years of experience

Personality requirements and skills

• Relevant degree in Computer Science or similar field.
• 5 years or more experience with software development, testing, creating documentation and working within a team.
• 5 years or more of experience in designing and developing software applications in Java or Scala.
• Passion for technology and eagerness to contribute to a team-oriented environment.
• Solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals like data structures and algorithms.

Top Candidates will also have:

• Developing software applications using relational and NoSQL databases.
• Deploying software using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GoCD, Azure DevOps etc.
• Deploying and maintaining software using public clouds such as AWS or Azure.
• Working within an Agile framework (ideally Scrum)
• Strong understanding and/or experience in some of the following,
• Message brokers such as Kafka, AWS SQS, AWS SNS, Kinesis.
• Experience writing API proxies on platforms such as Apigee Edge, AWS API Gateway or Azure API Gateway
• Hands one experience with API tools such as Swagger, Postman and Assertible
• Test driven development and behavior driven development.
• Hands on experience with testing tools such as Selenium and Cucumber and their integration into CI/CD pipelines.
• Datastores such as MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, Elasticsearch, MySQL, Oracle.
• Debugging and maintaining software in Linux or Unix platforms.
