The Fastener Engineer’s role is to support the organization’s fastener design review process including but not limited to fastener drawing interpretation, CAD/math interpretation and procurement, reviewing and communicating fastener standards and specifications. In addition, to provide guidance to management, peers, suppliers and customers on fastener requirements and being proactive in fastener reuse.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Conduct Fastener Design Reviews (FDR) with program teams for review of fastener, material, and finish selections to meet global requirements.
2. Implementation and communication of Fastener Design Guidelines for all vehicle platforms.
3. Support all program design reviews and Subject Matter Expert (SME) checklists.
4. Performing fastener testing and analyzing test data for the development of torque specifications.
5. Manage and support fastener related issues and assist the customer in solving joint problems
6. Process Fastener Standard Part Requests (SPR) submitted by program engineers.
7. Review engineering drawings for correct fastener dimensional, material, and finish specifications.
8. Prepare progress reports, evaluations and recommendations regarding fastener projects and products.
9. Supports OEM Statement of Requirements (SOR’s) for Seats Structure Subsystems.
10. Develop, implement and maintain an effective fastener engineering entity within the organization.

Personality requirements and skills

Qualifications Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
• Minimum three years of experience working in Fastener Technology.
• Must have a working knowledge of Fastener Standards, Materials, and Finishes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure with attention to details.


Preferred Technical Qualifications:
• Previous exposure to fastener testing and joint development
• Knowledge of fastener testing techniques (torque/angle to failure, process capability, etc.).
• Knowledge of ASME, SAE, ISO and DIN specifications for fasteners
• Ability to analyze 3D Math data and review designs utilizing Vis-Mock-up, UNX Teamcenter/Catia.
• Prior experience working with automotive OEM's and Tier 1 suppliers
