Job description, responsibilities and duties

System Database Administrator role is performed by technical professionals responsible for the physical and technical aspects of a database systems. Responsibilities for this job role include, but are not limited to, installation and maintenance of the database system, installation of upgrades and patches, performance and capacity monitoring & management, and security compliance. Potential interaction with clients (internal or external) in order to understand and meet requirements for the delivery of services related to database products. The employee guides functional objectives or technologies.

- Install, uninstall, and configure DB2 product.
- Apply upgrades/patches to DB2 and other software products in Linux server and manage and configure on the software products.
- Set up/configure/manage/maintain DB2 Purescale environments on IBM cloud.
- Manage DB backup, restore activities, and log files.
- Monitor Linux servers for any problems, and fix/resolve the problems.
- Monitor DB2 production servers for any problems (lock issue, tablespace issue, data load issue etc.), and fix/resolve the problems.
- Manage/configure the network for related DBs, upstream/downstream servers.
- Analyze performance issues and improve the performance (DB configure, DBM configure, procedure improvement, SQL improvement etc.).
- Manage DB objects changes and data migration.
- Create/manage automation scripts in Linux server.


Required Skills:
- At least 5 years’ experience in DB2 Linux relational database work
- Familiarity with a scripting language such as Perl and Unix/Linux/Shell
- Familiarity with DB2 Purescale cluster infrastructure; storage management on IBM cloud is a plus
- Familiarity with Linux server configuration and management activities
- Strong knowledge base of relational database performance and tuning

Preferred:
- Mainframe DBA skills
- Managing DB2 table changes to support application design and development efforts
- Implementing solutions for DB2 database backup and recovery infrastructure
- Monitoring/maintaining/upgrading DB2 database and assisting application team with performance tuning initiatives and builds
- Assisting in Backup and Recovery operations including Disaster Recovery planning
- Building operational Operations and Maintenance (O&M) checklists to maintain the service (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly O&M checklists)
- Ensuring proactive engagement in Incident Management process, working with cross-functional teams to minimize the impact of database outages
- Performing/translating the Data Model design into Physical objects
- Managing database objects like tablespace, user, table, Index, roles, privileges, profiles, DB Links, materialized views, partitioning, synonyms, sequences, views and indexes and other database objects etc.
- Driving performance & tuning, monitoring the performance using tools
- Responsibility for application database backups, reorgs, and migration between environments
- Proven and hands-on experience with DB2
- Experience in the planning of complex activities and execution of technical solutions on DB2


The salary range starts at 4000 EUR gross per month. The final salary offer reflects the set of skills and experience that selected candidates bring to the team.
