What will you be in charge of?

Are you an experienced accounting professional looking for a new challenge? We're an international e-commerce company seeking a Chief Accountant to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal functioning of our accounting department. If you're detail-oriented, proactive, and possess a strong understanding of Slovak accounting standards, this position is for you!
In this role, you'll be instrumental in:

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Managing month-end and year-end close processes in line with Group requirements and local GAAP standards.
  • Monitoring current changes in accounting legislation and regulations, and controlling accounting operations according to standards and legislation applicable to Slovak accounting and corporate taxes.
  • Managing the accounting function and providing leadership to the accounting team; training, supervising, and evaluating the performance of the accounting team.
  • Establishing and maintaining accounting systems and internal reporting controls.
  • Reconciling or supervising the reconciliation of accounts, which may include general ledger accounts, bank statements, sub-ledger accounts, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Developing and enforcing accounting policies and procedures in accordance with local GAAP.
  • Coordinating external audits and ensuring proper filing of tax returns.
  • Assisting with the preparation of foreign VAT filings and ensuring accurate and timely submission of VAT returns.
  • Advising the Director of Finance in areas of accounting and tax, and providing advice, consultation, direction, and support to other departments.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
