Machine Learning Research Engineer

To our unique scientific institute with a dynamic research community, we seek a highly motivated team member, who will participate in interesting collaboration with industry and knowledge transfer.

Your contribution will drive positive change through unique software solutions and you will collaborate with international research institutions and innovative companies.

Your work will be primarily (not exclusively) focused on one of following application areas:
- Quality of information, focusing on combating false information and on-line malicious behavior; use of information retrieval and recommendations; interpretation and explanation of AI models.
- Energy and environmental challenges, focusing on forecasting (nowcasting), anomaly detection,optimization of smart grids and flexibility solutions.
- Natural language processing, focusing on language modeling and large language models, involving low-resource languages; addressing tasks such as text classification, sentiment analysis, text generation or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).

Your responsibilities will include:
- Research, development and support for data analysis, training and evaluating models, data visualization and other data science related endeavors
- Engineering support of scientific experimentation and evaluation of methods and phenomena, coding, setting up the infrastructure and deploying solutions of different types.
- Analyze requirements in industrial and research projects and transform them into a solution (analysis, proof of concept, prototype, product or a research paper).
- Optionally: Set up and maintain cloud and on-premises infrastructure. We work with various cloud providers (the major focus being on AWS and Azure), our own cluster and also high-performance computing infrastructure.
- Share the knowledge both internally and within the community.
