What you will do

Responsibility level:

The Supplier Development & Quality Leader is responsible for the identification and implementation of continuous improvements with assigned suppliers by using Quality tools, Six-Sigma, and Lean approaches, simultaneously securing that the organization stays aligned with business needs to maximize value generation in terms of sustainable supplier performance in on time delivery, quality, capacity, scalability, and sustainability to all our sites.

The Supplier Development & Quality Leader (SDQL) is a position that supports and enables the monitoring, evaluation, training, and selection of suppliers across multiple Product Business Units (PBU’s) and the Field organization within Johnson Controls. This includes suppliers who provide direct material to plants, branded third party (OEM/ODM) or material with one of the Johnson Controls brand names, or third-party materials to the Field business. The impact of this role spans multiple functions, and suppliers within a defined region.

The focus areas are to work directly with the Supplier Fulfillment Leaders and Business Unit level Procurement & Material Leads, Category Managers, Quality Leaders and Engineering. This role will lead implementation of processes, tools, and training to drive quality, accuracy, efficiency, and accountability in all aspects of order fulfillment including supplier lead time reduction and on-time delivery, get well to PO, supplier past due reduction, days gap closure to JCI need date, supplier capacity verification, surge capacity available and key quality indicators at the supplier site as well as at JCI including SPPM, on-time response to 4D/8D and 8D closure rate in order to achieve a sustainable high quality performance.
The SDQL will work cross functionally and globally to drive supplier selection, launch readiness, PPAP, incoming supplier quality performance, warranty, and cost recovery. Support Root Cause analysis and CAPA implementation for Critical and Escalated quality and delivery issues within the supply base, by applying standard quality, program management, operations/lean and engineering principles, and techniques.  



How you will do it

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsibility for manufacturing partners in terms of:
    • Identify and execute necessary delivery and quality continuous improvement activities.
    • Manage and follow up identified improvement projects.
  • Drive supplier capacity audits, reviews, and analyzes supplier’s scalability.
  • Analyze the need of process development and investments.
  • Analyze production set up and methods to identify waste and improvement potentials.
  • Provides a structured problem-solving process to drive a solid root cause analysis for performance issues (Delivery and Quality) for assigned suppliers.
  • Communicates and coordinates supplier changes e.g. manufacturing location changes, process modifications, material changes, sub-supplier source changes, design changes
  • Facilitate and execute supplier-training and development programs.
  • Evaluates risk of new suppliers to deliver upon program requirements including on site or other assessments.  Works throughout the NPI programs to ensure suppliers’ readiness.
  • Develops programs including a robust on-boarding and risk assessment process, execution of risk mitigation strategies, periodic on-site assessments of key suppliers, development, and execution of JCI Global Supplier Standards.
  • Organizes, leads, and facilitates audits and assessments with a cross functional team for strategic/critical suppliers to determine reason for poor performance monitoring corrective action and continuous improvement validations.
  • Participates in sourcing decisions (development or phase-out) in collaboration with procurement to improve supplier performance and optimize supplier base.
  • Communicate Process outcomes & risks/mitigations effectively and efficiently during shop floor and business center reviews.
  • Support strategic supplier discussion (i.e. dual source, supplier change) items with Procurement PBU & Category leadership.
  • Coordinate with Supplier Fulfilment Leaders to identify risks to late delivery, handle escalations with suppliers according to JCI procedure.
  • Coordinates with Procurement, Operations, Materials/Fulfillment and Engineering to assure that materials are on site in a timely manner to facilitate speedy and accurate parts availability to meet customer demands.
  • Helps to develop a culture of accountability supporting the tracking, action planning, and measurable improvement of critical supply chain planning KPIs … define the process mission, vision, tactics, goals, objectives, KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and the measures that are aligned with the organization strategies.
  • Partner with Supplier Fulfilment to manage KPI performance through supplier management of demand-supply variation, labor planning, order scheduling and capacity planning.
  • Develop project templates and management system driving data to information to action plans.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

What we look for

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree within engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain management.
  • 7-10 years of experience in continuous improvement in manufacturing, engineering, or supply chain management, preferable in a global, cross-cultural environment.
  • Hands on experience of successful application of six sigma and lean mfg. tools (Kaizen, 5S)
  • Certification and advanced practical experience deploying and driving Lean, Program Management, and Six Sigma.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in matrix organization and ability to manage and influence others.
  • Project Management: Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously and work to a strict schedule.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Tenacious although professional when working with supplier challenges.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% - 75% including international.

  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability.

Salary compensation starting from 3515 EUR/month gross based on relevant experience.
