OPPORTUNITY
Manufacturing Engineering (ME) in BIW is responsible for sourcing, commissioning and optimizing the BIW and T&F(BIW lines) facilities and technology. This includes joining technologies, adhesive application, dimensional control etc. A high degree of inter-departmental interaction is expected, specifically in areas that have a direct relationship to the deliverables of the department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the build of current models, collecting dimensional, quality performance and joining data, implementing adjustments based on various reports and supporting problem solving on the BIW shop floor.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Manufacturing supporting documentation (PFMEA, Control Plan, GSPAS, Visual Management) and all other required to ensure successful handover to Plant.
• Develop and maintain Integrated Production System, Quality Operating system, Global Study Process Allocation System audit compliance. This will include the validation and approval of Standardised Work Instructions.
• Identify opportunities and assist in the implementation plans which pro-actively drive engineering continuous improvement whilst ensuring a logical & rigorous response to emerging issues identified through audit
• Monitoring the quality metrics to recognise and address dimensional errors and capability issues
• Monitoring incoming parts quality and steering quality loops as per build issues priority
• Problem solving customer dimensional issues.
• Undertake any other work as directed by their line
• Work on improvement plans / glide paths for external customer performance
• Support and drive the build quality performance
• Development and installation of vehicle body assembly process & manufacturing systems, joining technologies, tooling and automation.
• Commission facilities and processes to ensure dimensional and cosmetic results meet JLR standards.
• Support multi-disciplinary teams in pursuit of complex technical solutions.
• Liaison with suppliers and key stakeholders.
• Support technical decision-making.
• Support the manufacturing teams with production scheduling and cost reduction activities.
• Analysis for manpower & capacity planning. Line balancing, efficiency and utilisation improvement.
• Maximise equipment usage for achievement of project Capital Investment target and volume aspirations.
• Develop and implement quality maturation plans for new model introduction.
• Develop and implemet cost-effective technical solutions.
• Support Change management for the assigned commodity.
• Manage vendors in the achievement of KPIs and Launch targets within the timing plan.
• Provide assembly process design and feasibility. Support resolution of manufacturing issues.
• Design process to meet HSE & Ergonomics requirements.
• Develop layout to accommodate production equipment.

Požiadavky

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

• Relevant previous experience of Manufacturing / Engineering processes, tools and techniques including consistent delivery of productivity targets in Manufacturing
• Previous experience of supervising a multi-skilled teams in Manufacturing
• Experience in the application of a logical approach to Problem Solving
• Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety Audits and ergonomics including risk assessments
• Experience of vehicle body assembly process development, joining technologies and body assembly equipment including tooling, automation and robotics.
• Proven project management experience in installation/commissioning programmes.
• Computer literacy – Microsoft and CAD.
• A clear understanding of part, assembly and system interaction which involves tolerances, variability, and methods of location and measurement.
• A solid background in Body in White and Trim & Final - ideally, experience in metrology and manufacturing engineering.
• Ability to work outside of traditional working hours if required.

Desirable:
• Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering discipline.
• Experience of a Launch environment.
• Experience of certification processes.
• Experience of Vendor/Supplier management.
