OPPORTUNITY
The Technology Manager, Body Construction will lead and direct all Body Construction production and maintenance activities for the Nitra Plant (Discovery & Defender production), including overall accountability for the planning, control and delivery of all production targets, activities and associated Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People and Environment metrics for the area. Also responsible for the Environment & Energy strategy, Site Services, soft services and central maintenance planning teams.

Reporting to the Nitra Plant Operations Director, this role has significant people management responsibility (leading 1000 people) on site and will be a key player in the plant senior leadership team supporting cross-manufacturing and corporate initiatives and contributing to development of the plant strategy. The role will also be responsible for continuous improvement activities in all aspects of delivery, seeking and sharing best practice and process improvements across the area as well as the wider JLR production network.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead, engage and develop a large team of JLR associates and managers.
• Manage the day-to-day production and maintenance functions for the BiW Area.
• Site Services, Environment, Maintenance Planning and IESA
• Provide a safe working environment and safety leadership across the Area. Ensure all potential risks are identified and mitigated with strict process adherence and all corrective actions are implemented from any accidents.
• Lead delivery of efficiencies in process to deliver year-on-year productivity and reduce HPC.
• Work closely with the Plant Quality Manager to ensure that market information is understood, and corrective actions taken in car assembly processes to meet/exceed quality targets.
• Develop a five-year strategy including non-product capital expenditure projects to maintain and improve the current facility and process.
• Manage the cost budget to include labour, consumables, scrap, repairs and service contracts and continually seeks efficiencies in all areas.
• Work closely with ME, MTO and MPI in the delivery of new models and represents the Plant/Manufacturing in a range of meetings/forums including VQR, NMLR’s, LCM’s and BiW Technology Forum best practice meetings.
• Develop strategies with support functions and contractors to ensure their objectives are fully aligned and support Plant objectives.
• Ensure IPS, MQOS and LQOS processes understood and adhered to throughout the BiW area.
• Creates a focus point for the cross-plant technologies that supports the delivery of a high-quality product meeting marketplace expectations.

Požiadavky

Essential:
• Successful experience of engaging, developing and leading multi-skilled teams in multi-shift operations.
• Extensive previous experience of Production Management at senior management level including consistent delivery of productivity targets in high pressure fast-paced lean manufacturing environments.
• Proven experience of vehicle build and delivery processes and procedures.
• Thorough understanding and experience of Lean and Engineering/Manufacturing Processes, Tools and Techniques.
• Demonstrable experience in the application of a logical approach to Problem Solving.
• Working knowledge and experience of delivering safety metrics.
• Proven project management experience and the ability to work within tight deadlines and be able to manage and prioritise multiple activities simultaneously.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders at all levels; including delivering presentations to work groups and senior management.
• Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety Audits and ergonomics including risk assessments.
• Demonstrated evidence of effective business behaviours (JLR leadership framework).
• Experience of two or more technologies (Press, BIW, Paint and T&F) preferred.
• Commercial and brand awareness with insight into (our) customer base – their values and expectations.
• Relevant engineering/technical degree or equivalent experience.

Desirable:
• Demonstrable knowledge of Legislative and Industry Standards in Automotive, and experience of working in partnership with a Trade Union preferred.
