Job Description

This role is to support the development and deployment of new technology into the Logistics operation at the Automotive Plant in Nitra. The technologies could be digital, or physical, and could be to support the planning, execution or the physical movement of parts.

To be successful in the role, it will be necessary to collaborate with other teams within JLR to understand the current systems and processes, perform analysis to identify the best use of JLR resources, develop business cases to justify investment, write strategic packs to communicate and align central strategy, and then to prepare and oversee Project Plans to deliver and report out on new implementations.

It is an exciting role, as you will be at the forefront of new logistics technologies, developing new solutions and working with suppliers to identify new opportunities. You will need the confidence to go and engage new teams, to communicate new ideas and encourage others to move away from some of their traditional methods. You will need the experience of working in Logistics to understand how processes work, so you can understand where and how technology could be deployed to improve those processes.

You will also need a fascination with new innovations, a hunger to go out and find the latest solutions, a willingness to build relationships with other organisations, and organised behaviours to ensure successful implementations and reporting.

Key Performance Indicators:
• Implementations need to be delivered within the allocated budgets, and will be measured against the actual delivery compared to the original declared savings (used to build the original business case)
• Project Plans will be aligned to key business milestones, and will be tracked against JLR Standardised systems
• All Innovations will be monitored centrally to identify which areas are delivering successful projects, and future funding will be allocated accordingly

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
• Prepare studies, and present analysis to optimise investment into technology
• Co-ordination of installation/deployment of technology into the Logistics Operations
• Collaborate with Lead Logistics Provider (LLP), Finance and IT to integrate technology and source funding
• Support Material Flow Planning team with logistics design, using technology to reduce risk, optimise planning and enable efficient operations
• Track project status, report current status, and prepare submissions for key business gateways

Key Interactions:
• MP&L Plant Team in Nitra – to support development of local solutions
• Central MP&L Team in the UK – to ensure alignment to central strategy
• IT Department – to ensure solutions are within corporate stategy and
• Central Purchasing Team to source and manage technology suppliers
• Finance – To build business cases and ensure the sensible deployment of funding


- Significant experience and knowledge of Logistics Planning, Operations and Processes
- Some experience of IT Systems, and Technology
- Some experience of Project Management, and Reporting
- Candidates must demonstrate drive, initiative and strong analytical skills
- Can form strong working relationships
- Can manage and resolve a wide range of problems using problem solving tools
- Applicants must be computer literate and have knowledge of relevant business systems (e.g. Word, Powerpoint, Excel etc)
- Ability to plan and prioritise varying workload and demands
- Applicants must be flexible to support manufacturing build plans

- Experience of Automotive or Manufacturing Logistics
- Experience of developing or implementing new technology (software or hardware)
- Experience of any programming language
