STA Manager- Supply Assurance

The STA Manager will manage a team of Supply Assurance Engineers and a portfolio of cross commodity suppliers to continuously improve manufacturing performance by maximising team potential while executing defined processes to eliminate risk to stakeholders. The STA Manager has the responsibility to manage escalated issues through the Supply Assurance team and support the ongoing development of the STA strategy.

This role manages current model programmes and supports escalations from the JLR Plant teams relating to quality or delivery performance issues impacting JLR ability to meet Customer First targets. (Zero Line-stop, Zero Mis-fit, Zero Holds, Zero Defects). A systematic diagnosis and practical problem solving approach will be required to drive root cause countermeasures of specific issues escalated from the plant teams.
The role will also require a more in depth systemic improvement approach for chronic suppliers who are continually impacting JLR Supply Chain stability. Management of these severe high risk suppliers will be through the JLR escalation process. This will be principally based on Value Stream Mapping end to end operations and identifying performance gaps then working collaboratively to support our Suppliers implement and execute action plans to drive resilience into the existing supply chain design and ensure capability of all operations, technical processes and people.
The role should support the STA vision of driving manufacturing excellence into the supply base of the given COC components and will require a mixture of operational, tactical and strategic activities.

Main responsibilities:
• Deploy objectives aligned to the STA scorecard. Ensure that the objectives are measured and achieved to deliver the overall PQS and drive business efficiencies.
• Drive the deployment of QOS 088 for any escalated suppliers through either the current car team or the supply assurance team dependant on the level of escalation.
• Ensure that all of the teams are compliant with training needs and continuous development through the deployment of growth plans and personal scorecards.
• Ensure process compliance & support strategy development & delivery.
• Ensure data integrity and accuracy
• Support elements of the strategy development and deployment for STA for supply base excellence.
• Facilitate the execution of the “One Plan” improvement process with escalated suppliers.
• Provide management interface with Purchase, MP&L & Manufacturing for the portfolio of escalated current car suppliers
• Improve Supply Chain delivery and quality performance to meet JLR Plant targets
• Support management of major Supply Chain incidents causing immediate disruption impact to JLR plants
• Drive and lead multi-functional improvement teams to support improving Supply Chain performance and resilience
• Identify and manage improvement activity of Potential Risk suppliers based on underlying KPI performance gaps
• Communication of Supplier Performance status to cross functional stakeholders across JLR business

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering gained at engineer or management level
• Extensive knowledge and practical deployment of lean tools and demonstrated experience in process/value stream mapping
• Change leadership/management skills with the ability to challenge and drive world class operational excellence
• Analytical skills to break down complex, multidimensional problems or processes and drive improvement ideas from concept to reality
• A proven leadership track record in a manufacturing or technical environment
• Broad experience of managing external stakeholder and supplier relationship management
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship management skills and experience
• Able to manage and execute complex projects on time and within budget
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to converse at all levels of the organisation and with external
suppliers/customers
• Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Engineering back-ground
• Experience working in a high paced manufacturing operations environment
