CME Lead Engineer

Job Description

This role will lead engineering and technical support to design, develop and implement manufacturing production processes to enable successful launch of new products, ensuring feasibility of all designs to suit manufacturing build requirements, Design for Assembly (DFA) and compliance with the Bill of Process (BOP). This includes the creation of process, delivery of tools, jigs & fixtures, quality, data analysis and reporting of major issues, deployment of failure mode avoidance tools, support of cross-functional teams in the resolution of those issues on projects and the tracking of resolution through to completion.

- Project manage a team to plan, develop, maintain and improve all written processes, tooling, jigs and fixtures for current models, new model introduction and model year changes
- Generate build process strategies for manufacturing
- Co-operate process tooling supplier selection and vendor management
- Provide feasibility of all designs to suit manufacturing build requirements, Design for Assembly (DFA), alignment to Bill of Process (BOP), PFMEA, Control Plan
- Ensure that team achieve process capability of all processes and equipment
- Ensure that all engineering changes are controlled to comply with corporate and regulatory requirements, Conduct line trials and Process audits
- Continuous process improvements using the Integrated Production System and Lean manufacturing principles
- Drive quality planning and analysis for assembly
- Involvement in allocating the work through the development and monitoring of the teams objectives
- Manage technical issues and escalate where appropriate
- Represent CME department at program meetings at all levels and present where applicable
- Undertake any other work as directed by line manager
- Co-ordinate the development and submission of departmental responses to product letters
- Ensure the team support and lead virtual build events, raising and managing issues where appropriate
- Support of physical builds at assembly plant locations, raising and managing issues where appropriate

Prerequisites

- Previous experience of Manufacturing/Engineering processes, tools and techniques
- Knowledge of and involvement in product launches or product development phase
- Experience with launch activities/project management
- Proficient in managing risk assessments, FMEAs, control and reaction plans
- Experience in the application of logical approach to problem solving
- Good communication skills, independence
- An individual who is results driven, demonstrating tenacity, drive and perseverance with the ability to deliver operational plans in a complex, highly demanding environment, responds constructively to new ideas and inputs
- Effective team player, actively develops and supports team members
