Job description, responsibilities and duties

PURPOSE

You will be a member of the IQVIA financial shared services center in Bratislava Slovakia, which is an integral part of our global financial shared services network.

On this position, you will be SME for Fixed Assets and Lease accounting policies advising team members and local finance. You will be responsible for the US GAAP accounting and reporting requirements for the Company’s legal entities a number of countries across the world. Additionally, your responsibilities will include maintenance of lease accounting for facilities within our financial systems, and general accounting duties to meet the accounting and reporting requirements. The primary focus will be to ensure strict adherence to US GAAP, internal financial policies, and ensure compliance with IQVIA Finance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support team member and local finance in non-recuring transactions as fixed asset impairments, asset retirement obligations, internal sale of fixed assets within IQVIA etc.
• Maintain Lease Accounting for IQVIA’s facilities leases in lease accounting software and ensure their proper reporting in ERP systems. This includes initial set up of leases in the lease application, disposal of leases and lease contract changes
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for right of use asset & lease liability
• Partner with Corporate accounting team on consolidation of quarterly reporting for leases
• Manage and participate on process improvement projects within fixed asset team
• Support integration of IQVIA entities into main ERP system from fixed asset perspective. Including participation on ERP integration project meetings, partnering with IT on set-up of fixed asset register for integrated unit, UAT testing of fixed asset process & upload of fixed assets for integrated entities
•Support month end process within deadlines and instructions.
•Book regular monthly journals and ad hoc adjustments as required
•Provides training & guidance to more junior colleagues.
•Ensure that accounting records are thoroughly maintained in preparation for independent audits.
•Provide full audit support during annual financial audits
•Provide recommendations to improve existing processes and financial systems and suggest alternatives where appropriate.
•Ensure appropriate communication with all business partners and support business partners in financial decisions, if required.
•Maintain and improve technical accounting skills.
•Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Certified accountant or nearing certification with professional bodies as ACCA, CPA, CFA, CIMA etc.
• Finance Shared Service or Financial Audit background is preferred.
• Knowledge of lease & fixed assets accounting standards (IFRS or US GAAP).
•Strong communication skills – effective verbal and written communication skills in English language is MUST
•Attention to detail and a high degree of intellectual curiosity; inquisitive.
•Ability to exercise judgment within procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and managers.
•Sense of urgency and ability to juggle and prioritize multiple work requirements to meet deadlines.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

•Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience in accounting.
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
•Technical accounting skills.
•Good analytical and numeracy skills.
•Ability to identify financial issues and execute mitigating actions.
•Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple work requirements to meet deadlines.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, and clients
