Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Technical Writer is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Financial Lifecycle SOPs, Work Instructions, Supporting Documents and assisting with training materials. The Technical Writer will ensure all materials and documentation is published on to the Financial Lifecycle Knowledge Center timely and accurately. They will work closely with the department trainers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and the Product Development teams to ensure the most up to date processes and platform changes are documented. 

•The successful candidate needs to be able to translate complex software into user-friendly, step-by-step manuals for use by clinical trial teams. 
•Candidate will work with the business analysts from the technology team to understand clinical trial software and document its use. 
•Candidate will also interface extensively with project managers, to determine study-specific workflows and training needs and to document those. 
•Should possess strong PPT and Word skills.
• Experience with online learning platforms and instructional design highly valuable.
•Candidate skilled at instructional design 

•Candidate will be responsible for all document assets -should be developed and maintained by this person who will supply them for PMs and trainers as needed. 
•This person does not need to be a client-facing personality who delivers training – just someone who develops and documents it. 

This person’s role will be full-time documentation of our software system and implementation process. 

The candidate will be responsible for writing:
• the eConsent master user guides for 6.0 (both for end-users and for client administrators)
• study-specific pocket guides as needed
• slide deck templates and study-specific versions for site-training 
• agendas and content for client training workshops as 6.0 is rolled out to SaaS clients

Summary of Essential Job Functions

    Development and maintenance of SOPs, Work Instructions, Supporting Documents and assist with training materials
    Development and maintenance of process maps, FAQs and any other documentation needs that arise  
    Development and maintenance of external user guides, supporting documents, FAQs and any other documentation needs that arise  
    Responsible for updating and maintaining the Financial Lifecycle Knowledge Center
    Interacts with Subject Matter Experts and End Users to ensure documentation is up to date
    Assists in writing technical training programs, including outline, text, handouts, and tests, and designs exercises. 
    Interacts with Product Development team to update documentation based on system enhancements and process changes
    Assists in developing materials for technical training programs
    Manages translation requests with external partner as needs arise  
    Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
    Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience Requirements

    B.A./B.S. preferably in a writing, technical communications, a specified technical field related or equivalent degree and/or 3 -5 years related experience.

    Presentation skills, written communication, training, training management, technical zeal, self-development, technical leadership, presenting technical information, self-confidence, and dealing with complexity
    Requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational, documentation and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to work within a team-oriented environment 
    Ability to handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment is essential 
    Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    Strong computer skills with an ability to understand, access and leverage technology alternatives.
    Instructional design experience a plus.
