Information about the position

Job description, responsibilities and duties

Under the overall supervision of the Emergency Coordinator and the Head of Sub-Office, Košice, and direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant (Emergency Response / Displacement Tracking Matrix), and, in collaboration with relevant units, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the successful implementation of the following activities within Emergency Response:

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1. Collect data on migration flows and migrants, their needs and intentions, conduct return surveys
2. Conduct other Displacement Tracking Matrix-related surveys with migrants (Ukrainian nationals and other third-country nationals) related to their integration, current status and needs
3. Carry out field activities in an assigned area or areas, such as at a border or in a border area, at an airport, transit center or other facility, camp-based operation or office;
4. If required, provide assistance, legal counselling and different kinds of information to people arriving or displaced in Slovakia due to conflict in Ukraine (personally, via email or telephone);
5. Act as interpreter/translator;
6. Report on the current situation at the borders, border areas, registration centers, information points, bus and train stations, airports and transit centers or other facilities
7. Provide photo reports according to the rules of IOM
8. Attend coordination meetings of the Enumerators Team / Frontline Workers Team
9. Take part in required IOM trainings
10. Prepare necessary travel documents following the rules and instructions provided by office staff
11. Carry out above mentioned duties in case of emergency
12. In case of Emergency, the staff shall be available on call within 24h for 24h shifts (3x 8h shifts or 2x 12h shifts)
13. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.

Consultancy Contract, until 31 March 2023 (with possibility of extension)
All inclusive fee at 11.50 EUR per hour.

Fluency in English, Slovak, Ukrainian and Russian is required. Working knowledge of other official IOM languages (Spanish, French) is an advantage.
