Job description, responsibilities and duties

Under the general supervision of the Head of Office and direct supervision of Emergency Coordinator in cooperation with Project Team, the incumbent will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1. Independently lead and coordinate the implementation of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities; monitor implementation of the activities to ensure work is proceeding according to established plans; analyse implementation difficulties and make recommendations for adjusting implementation modalities and work plans to best reflect changing environment on the field.
2. Coordinate the recruitment process of Psychosocial Mobile Teams Members
3. Identify training needs and plan capacity building activities for Psychosocial Mobile Teams members; Plan, coordinate and conduct capacity building workshops for relevant internal and external parties.
4. Participate in the development of an adequate MEAL system for the project based on relevant MHPSS indicators.
5. Develop project documents, forms and tracking tools based on identified needs.
6. Ensure accurate data collection is consistent and representative of IOM’s MHPSS and host government’s requirements.
7. Provide psychosocial support to the beneficiaries
8. Coordinate and monitor the financial, administrative and technical aspects of the MHPSS activities in line with IOM policies and donor requirements
9. Participate in meetings and conferences, e.g. MHPSS Technical working group meetings; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
10. Coordinate the preparation of correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, narrative and financial reports; ensure status reports are prepared and submitted in a timely manner.
11. Identify and document good practices and lessons learned; contribute to the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP), policies and concept papers and support the development of new projects.
12. Supervise and provide guidance and training to reporting staff.
13. Cooperate and liaise with project partners, experts and other relevant institutions and collaborators, as required for proper implementation of activities.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

General Staff (GVII, UN Salary Scale valid for the Slovak Republic since 1 Jan 2009). Step one of the salary scale corresponds to all inclusive fee 2199 EUR per month (take home payment of 2164 EUR - income is exempted from taxation).
6 weeks of paid annual leave per year (2.5 days per completed month of service).
24 days of paid sick leave per year (2 days per completed month of service).

Education
• High school diploma or equivalent required with at least 7 years of relevant professional experience, or;
• Completed University degree from an accredited academic institution, preferably in Social Sciences, Psychology or a related with at least 5 years of professional experience

Experience
• Experience and necessary training skills;
• Experience in providing psychosocial support;
• Good knowledge in the field of cross-cultural and migration related issues
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills including ability to work under time pressure;
• Demonstrated experience in adhering to Do No Harm Principle
• Very good knowledge of MS Office.

Skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and adherence to Data Protection principle
• Ability to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work individually and in multicultural team

Languages
Fluency in English and Slovak is required. Working knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is an advantage.
