Organisational Context:

COO Operational Design Control & Resilience (COO ODCR) is a function steers on the efficiency and effectiveness of implementing and managing 1LoD non-financial risk requirements, methodology and tools for ING. The aim of the team is to deliver on ING’s vision of Staying Safe & Secure by engaging and enabling ING (business) leaders to be in control of their (local) processes and activities, while doing this in the most efficient and effective way for ING as a whole. Through 1LoD Methodology, Reporting & Gatekeeper team, we steer on the efficiency and effectiveness of 1LoD NFR and Compliance processes and activities, and the overall calendar, and we steer on the quality of guidance and training delivered to the ODCR Business partners regarding NFR and Compliance requirements. And all that in close alignment with our 2LoD and 3LoD colleagues.

We are looking for a pragmatic, innovative & inspiring senior consultant with strong result- driven capabilities, who wants to help us move te needle when it comes to making the 1LoD reach the control & resilience goals effectively and organizing as efficiently as possible.

What you will do:

As Consultant Methodology, you report to the head of 1LoD Methodology, Reporting & Gatekeeper (MRG) and together with your colleagues, a team of 12 specialists in Amsterdam (7) and Bratislava (5), you are responsible for:
  • Increasing efficiency and effectiveness in the risk & control management of ING by ensuring the design, implementation, monitoring, reporting, tooling, planning and role descriptions of the 8 reference processes and continuous improvement of relevant methodology and materials;
  • Continuing the implementation of the vision for control & resilience across 1LoD in ING and ensure in close collaboration with 2LoD on methodology, processes and priority setting through the relevant meetings;
  • Helping our ODCR business partners to be successful in their role towards ING (business) leaders by enhancing overall transparency and being the liaison between the COO ODCR leads and the content and requirement owners in the COO ODCR CoEs and/or 2LoD on overall planning, guidance, and activities.
  • Together with the team, ensuring engagement, best practice sharing, general information sharing and optimal collaboration between COO ODCR teams in all locations on the implementation, execution, management and monitoring of the 1LoD methodologies, 8 reference processes, activities and reporting;
  • Creating overall bank-wide reporting for control and resilience, making sure that the reporting used in all locations and business lines to reflect the status of control and resilience is standardized through 8 reference processes, as well as providing a ready to use overview for business leaders;

Who are we looking for?

  • You have a solid knowledge about Non-Financial Risk Framework; and their relevance in banking processes and products;
  • You have a good understanding of 1LoD NFR processes and activities (e.g. Risk assessments, Control standard / Control design, Key Control Monitoring and Evaluation, etc) and are able to develop and maintain (new) methodologies and continuous improvements to help drive the transformation agenda;
  • You understand the business impact of the implementation of the control and resilience requirements, processes, methodology and tools on the organisation;
  • You are able to connect and communicate with colleagues from various departments in all three lines of defense.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 10 years professional experience in banking/business consultancy or transformation roles;
  • Pragmatism; ability to translate high level/strategic vision and requirements into tactical and concrete actions;
  • Experience in working in an international environment and realizing results with virtual teams across locations;
  • Track record in the implementation of large/complex change;
  • Understanding of the NFR Framework and relevant policies;
  • High resilience, the ability to deal with ambiguity and manage complexity;
  • Result driven with a customer focus / able to build trust with senior leadership;
  • Eager to learn and to take ownership of the responsibilities and mandate;
  • Excellent level of English, communication and presentation skills;
  • Master’s degree & relevant courses.
