Our company is growing rapidly and for our growing expertise hub we are searching for experienced candidates for the position of Non-financial risk specialist . Your scope of responsibilities covers multiple locations globally in the implementation and monitoring of the business control activities assigned to you. You maintain continuous global oversight of the status and progress of the non-financial risk matters relevant for your policy and you are the ‘go to’ subject matter expert for business.

The right candidate needs to have a strong risk awareness and knowledge, analytical skills, be proficient in disciplined execution, able to combine content expertise with project management skills and capable of achieving solid results in an international complex and dynamic environment. This entails maintaining close links with all stakeholders involved.

Key responsibilities:
  • Act as 1 Line of Defence towards your stakeholders. Follow the appropriate procedures on Risk Management to assess and support the mitigation of non financial risk while applying working knowledge of standardized business processes, in order to protect the organization from the risks. This particularly means making impact in the following processes and Non Financial Risk Cycle areas:
  • Setting of Risk Appetite of the organization, with the purpose to stipulate the risk levels ING is willing to accept in achieving its business objectives;
  • Execute regular or ad-hoc risk assessments, with the purpose to obtain and regularly assess risks ING needed to take action on to stay within the risk appetite;
  • Risk Mitigation and Local Control Design & Implementation, with the purpose to implement effective risk mitigating measures in an efficient way for the location or domain in scope of your team;
  • Implementation of updates to internal control frameworks, with the purpose to ensure smooth implementation, knowledge and awareness of all new/changed Non Financial risk requirements via global documents;

  • Risk and Control Monitoring, with the purpose of maintaining internal control system and validating if our risk mitigating measures perform as planned;
  • Issues & Event Management, with the purpose to ensure their timely and adequate resolution;
  • Risk Reports Creation & Validation, with purpose to facilitate data driven risk monitoring and decision making
  • Facilitate non-financial risk discussion between first and second line of defence on local or ING Corporate level (e.g. Compliance, Risk or Legal) in the process in your scope
  • Provide content-based insights for trainings and awareness for business
  • Ensure optimal planning & data driven monitoring of timely Non Financial Risk Calendar delivery
  • Manage internal Clients/Customers while executing business processes
  • Collect and Analyse data needed for the key non financial risk themes and trends
  • Provide information and business advice on interpretation and application of policies, procedures, resolving queries and issues
  • Analyse and propose solutions, interpret data and identify possible answers. This involves navigating through a wide variety of procedures processes

Candidates with education suit the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Advanced (C1)

Personality requirements and skills

  • Experience and ability to successfully manage different stakeholders on the operational, tactical and strategic level (5+ years of experience)
  • Organizational sensitivity with persuasiveness-skills and ability to use indirect influence
  • Strong communication skills
  • Performance reporting, result analyses and action follow up
  • Ability to build bridges, bring people together (interpersonal awareness), act as a sparring partner to various stakeholders
  • Strong work ethic combined with a structured and disciplined approach, resulting in ‘getting things done’
  • 5+ years of experience with managing complex non-financial or operational risks in the area of banking (ie: Compliance, IT security, CoI, etc.)
