IBSS Bratislava has a challenging opportunity available for ambitious, content driven professionals!

We are looking for an experienced Senior Non-Financial Risk Officer for the role of Global WB Policy Champion.


The Policy Champion plays a pivotal role between Policy Owner (e. g. Compliance, Operational Risk Management) and the Business Control Officers in the WB locations.
Your scope of responsibilities covers all WB locations globally in the implementation and monitoring of the framework(s) assigned to you. You maintain continuous global oversight of the status and progress of the NFR matters relevant for your policy and you are the ‘go to’ subject matter expert for the first line of defense. You are the linking pin between the (local) first line and the corporate 2nd line functions when global issues arise. You liaise with senior management to align on the expectations regarding the implementation and key control testing.

The right candidate needs to have a strong risk awareness and knowledge, analytical skills, be proficient in disciplined execution, able to combine content expertise with project management skills and capable of achieving solid results in an international complex and dynamic environment. This entails maintaining close links with all stakeholders within various business lines of not only WB, but also on the corporate level, second and third line of defense.

Within WB the policies are grouped in policy pools. In this role you will be part of the Products pool, covering the following Product Control Frameworks (PCFs): Payments and Current Accounts. These frameworks include the controls which mitigate the risks associated with the respective processes.


Key responsibilities
As Global Policy Champion your main responsibilities are :
• Designing and updating the global controls to be included in the product control frameworks
• Driving and coordinating the implementation of new and/or updated PCFs in WB globally;
• Supporting globally WB locations and Business Control Officers in the execution of the implementation of the control standards;
• Having a continuous and complete overview of all related controls within WB, including their implementation status;
• Assessing and advising the PCF Domain Owner regarding control waivers and deviations submitted by locations;
• Design and be the driving force behind the central key control testing by IBSS Control Hubs, including delivery of adequate control descriptions and global standardized test plans
• Proactively drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure non-financial risk related to the policies assigned to you is efficiently and effectively managed at the right level in the organization (e.g. through optimizing sub-controls, aggregation local issues)
• Guide the 1LOD to identify risk and control gaps/weaknesses and provide practical recommendations to improve the quality and effectiveness of the control environment.
• Develop reporting and tracking of the key issues in the implementation and standardization of control standards. Develop a control dashboard to provide management with a clear view of the ongoing risks and issues.

Personality requirements and skills

• Preferably experience in compliance, legal or other control-related function in the financial services firm, regulatory organization, etc.
• Professional licenses / certification relevant to risk management are preferred
• Preferably WB experience with a good understanding of ING’s business lines, products and processes.
• Full professional English, both written and spoken.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• A pro-active, can-do mentality and a good sense of humor
• Able to work in shifting schedules
