Job Description:
As the Accounting & Tax Expert Lead, you ensure the accounting of the IBSS Bratislava branch according to all local GAAP and group standards (IFRS) by functionally managing and developing an expert team while taking into account ING’s needs, the environment and society. You set the standards for your area and take responsibility for developing, innovating and safeguarding knowledge in this area. You lead the process of accounting and reporting financial and regulatory data, oversee the interpretation and translation of (new) regulations, oversee the process of reporting statutory and regulatory data and drive the implementation of the control framework over financial and regulatory reporting to improve and safeguard financial results.

You are combining, in an approximate ratio of 70/30, the role of an individual contributor and people leader in an Agile Way of Working (WoW) organization. You act as a servant-leader instead of a hierarchical top down manager. You are responsible for facilitating, supporting, and motivating your team members to achieve common goals.

As the Accounting & Tax Expert Lead you are a team-player, solution-focussed, and broadly developed, with a positive can-do mind-set, living ING’s Orange Code. Besides helping to develop your team members in your field of expertise, you also perform content-related tasks in the same area of expertise as your team members. Your content knowledge is sufficient to determine the future direction of your team, allows you to lead strategic discussions with business partners, as well as to manage stakeholders in your area of expertise.

Primary Accounting Responsibilities:
Together with your team members you:
  • Ensure the accounting of IBSS Bratislava according to local GAAP and group requirements (IFRS compliant); ensure correct accounting information toward controlling to comply with the head-office requirements
  • Ensure compliance with external regulations, internal policies and minimum standards in the area of responsibility
  • Cooperate or lead on ad-hoc projects (e.g. implementation of new systems according to head-office planning in area of responsibility)
  • Secure accounting, tax, statistical reporting in compliance with local (GAAP)/group (IFRS) regulations
  • Secure accuracy and completeness of accounting through internal control and review
  • Review reasonableness of the monthly balance sheet and local profit and loss account
  • Review adequate booking on cost centres
  • Manage monthly accrual process securing accuracy and completeness of financials
  • Lead the preparation of annual financial statements and internal/external audit
  • Lead and coordinate the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols in own area of specialization to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice
  • Lead the execution and reconciliation of complex statutory and regulatory reporting, identifying and interpreting complex patterns and trends, and translating those into actionable recommendations. Contribute to the development and refinement of regulatory and statutory reporting templates and guidelines, based on developments in the market and demands from regulators

Primary Tax Responsibilities:
In cooperation with tax officer to ensure:
  • Updates and complete tax procedures
  • Preparation of annual CIT return and internal/external audit
  • Other tax agenda (WHT, VAT, Road tax, act as PIT counsellor)
  • Other tax administration (e.g. information sent to tax authorities, tax certificates, written communication, etc.)
  • Prepare local transfer pricing documentation
  • Review IBSS pricing model
  • Manage the process in case of the tax inspection

Also, you are responsible for facilitating, supporting and motivating, as you:

University education (Master's degree)

Educational Specialization

Finance, Accounting or similar area

Language skills

English - Advanced (C1) and Slovak - Proficiency (C2)

Personality requirements and skills

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar area
  • 7+ years of relevant job experience in accounting and tax, with a few years in a senior position, preferably in corporate/banking sector within an international environment
  • Demonstrable understating and knowledge of accounting, tax, and supervisory regulations, IFRS knowledge, local GAAP knowledge, tax (CIT, PIT, VAT, WHT) knowledge, experience with statutory audit preparation, tax inspection, experience with local transfer pricing documentation preparation
  • Experience in a chief accountant role is a plus
  • Experience with core accounting systems
  • Knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft is a plus
  • Experience in core accounting system implementation is a plus
