About the position

Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Global Risk & Control Center of Expertise (CoE) is responsible for leading the integration and the simplification of the existing non-financial risk control frameworks in close cooperation with business management and the Risk function (2nd Line). The CoE (1st Line function) is also responsible for supporting and challenging the Centres of Excellence on Risk & Control Management across ING and its stakeholders in adapting to the Target Operating Model. You will furthermore act as a catalyst between Centres of Excellence on Control Management and its stakeholders to achieve defined control management objectives and specific goals.

You will be operating in the very heart of the ING Bank COO organisation, based in the IBSS organisation in Bratislava. You will hierarchically report to the Expertise Lead for Risk & Control (who is based in Bratislava) and functionally to the ERM Center of Expertise lead, who is based in Amsterdam.

The complexity of the assignments and the international setting requires for you to cooperate in and with the international network of ING. No day will be the same!

In this position you will:
  • Work proactively with senior management and value chain owners to design and implement solutions to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal control environment in an international context.
  • Identify strategic capabilities that will support and increase knowledge sharing and replication of internal control best practices within ING Bank globally
  • Contribute to the design and implement ING Bank’s strategy on internal control, in line with competitive and market practices.
  • Contribute to the development of control frameworks aligned with ING Bank’s Policies, Standards and business process.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative and automated key control testing procedures.
  • From an operational point of view you will provide hands-on support in identifying control weaknesses and (support) the implementation of control structures globally

Personality requirements and skills

  • 8+ years’ relevant experience in the areas of risk management, business controls, compliance or audit (preferably focused on the baking or financial services industry)
  • Have international experience in complex organisations and a bird’s eye view and knowledge of banking business processes, risks and associated controls;
  • Have proven communication, convincing and advisory skills with the ability to work at all levels in the organisation (a track record in project management is advantageous);
  • You are professionally sceptic, knowledgeable and solution oriented;
  • Have an affinity with IT
  • Academic degree and preferably in the possession of a certification in Internal Control / Administrative Organisation
  • Are fluent in English
