The financial sector has undergone a substantial transformation in recent years. Our complete industry and the world around us have both changed. Customers have different wants and needs than before and new competitors are emerging. Moreover, the advancements in the fields of digitisation, technology, product innovation and new ways of working are moving at lightning speed. As a company we need to adapt to that and preferably even stay ahead of the changes. That’s why we need the right people on board – talented professionals who can continuously improve our existing processes and can also think up, coordinate and implement new ones.

During our two-year program you create your own career within Operations. You learn more about your chosen discipline and the banking services sector. Based on your own interests, you can indicate your preferences for your first rotation so that we can work together to find a suitable starting role for you. This enables you to get to know several departments within ING. After your first year, you start in your first ‘real’ job, which lasts for approximately two years. The aim is to further enhance your knowledge and hone your skills.

As a trainee you will:

• Act as an ambassador for the ING strategy and purpose.
• Understand who ING’s clients are and what their needs are.
• Understand the main products that ING offers to our clients.
• Understands the balance sheet, income statement and business model of the bank.
• Understands the main regulatory frameworks that are applicable to ING.
• Understand how new developments (blockchain, PSD2, innovation, low interest rates, data analytics etc) impact ING and how ING responds to that.
• Uses understanding of clients, banking, macro-economic environment in their decision making.
• Understand the principles of the ING Way of Working & PACE.
• You will take a part in various projects.

Personality requirements and skills

Requirements for the trainee:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree from a university
• Maximum of two years of work experience
• Fluent in English (C1)
• Preferably extra-curricular activities (such as board or committee experience, volunteer work, internships) to prove your leadership development and affinity with the track you applied for
