Who are we looking for?

You are a pro-active and motivated professional with a good understanding of Non-Financial Risk Management from a First Line of Defense perspective. You are skilled, professionally sceptic, knowledgeable, and solution-oriented. You have an entrepreneur attitude and able to work independently with little supervision. You are organizational sensitive and are able to work under pressure. You comprehend the importance of communication, thus, are able to maintain clear reporting and escalation lines.

You understand and communicate in English very well (C1 level in speaking, listening, reading and writing).
You are willing to travel and as such support ING’s WB throughout different regions region on-site.

Responsibilities & duties

As a Business Controls Officer you take an operational view on ING Bank’s regional and local internal control environment. You will work proactively with senior management and business lines and provide hands-on support in identifying control weaknesses through the coordination and support of Non-Financial Risk activities. As such, you will need to gain an understanding of ING’s Internal Control Framework, Key Control testing methodology and execution.

The following activities will be your key focus:
  • Risk Assessment
  • Implementation and maintenance of Control Standards
  • Key Control Testing
  • Monitoring and reporting

These tasks will be closely aligned with other ING Wholesale Banking activities like implementation of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). You will be part of the Control Hub.

The WB Control Hub was recently set-up to optimize and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of key control testing to support the internal control environment in the 1st line of defense throughout ING’s Wholesale Bank. We are looking for entrepreneurs not afraid of taking initiatives and will help to make this Control Hub a success. The Business Controls Officer has contact with internal (international) parties to perform Risk & Control functions. In the future a flying squad to cover a region might become part of the Control Hub.

Academic & trades qualifications:

  • Bachelor / Master Degree
  • at least 3 years of experience in Non-Financial Risk areas, such as Internal Control, Administrative Organization, Audit, or Operational Risk Management

Work experience & system skills:

  • Carries out Risk & Control functions.
  • Actively cooperates with internal (international) parties.
  • Understands banking processes and is Non-Financial Risk ‘sensitive’
  • Have relevant working experience in auditing, internal control, or non-financial risk management.
  • Knowledge of a tool like iRisk is an added advantage
