Information about the position
Job description, responsibilities and duties
• Metallic connection for all types with equipment, pull metallic cable through conduit following all industry standards and best practices
• Handle different types of Metallic cable and optical cable
• Use cable cut and connection machine
• Reads engineering cable placement drawings and correlates them to physical plant
• Documents test results and any changes made as compared to drawings
• Assists in the coordination of OSP projects with other departments/vendors/clients
• Maintains existing metallic routes and facility locates as directed
• Maintains all OSP equipment
• Splice optic fiber connectors on the customer side to begin services
• Test metallic part end to end and document results
• Assists in ISP projects as needed by other Field Technicians.

- Well versed in fusion splicing machine technique

- Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, isolation
- 5+ years Metallic cable experience
- Technical training considered an asset
- Previous telecommunications experience and testing for improved experience
- Experience using FO troubleshooting tools
- Experience with electrical or working around power
- Engineering experience considered an asset
- Preference given to those with additional experience or FTTC / FTTH project experience
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required
