Senior R&D project manager - Full-remote

Thermo Fisher Scientific (Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD) Software Group) is looking forward to hiring a Sr. R&D Software Project Manager to join our global project management team. In this role you will work with a group of dedicated and committed individuals towards a common North Star of creating a best-in-class cloud ecosystem to benefit our customers. You will lead one or more Project teams in an Agile environment to take Software Development Projects from concept through creation. You will hold regular visibility sessions with partners to review progress, handle and mitigate risk and review and prioritize new requests. You will also ensure compliance and adherence to the Product Development Process within the CMD Software group. You will serve as a Senior Leader on projects.


What will you work on?
- Provide leadership and problem-solving for multifaceted, cross-functional Product Management, Marketing, and Research & Development teams.
- Provide expertise in project planning and timeline development & management; develop a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources. Conduct appropriate project risk assessments and define mitigation plans. Handle follow-up actions and communication internally and externally in the resolution of project issues.
- Report to partners and upper management about progress and any necessary modifications of plans
- Work closely with Product Managers and Scrum Masters to organize the backlog, perform iterative planning, track timelines and lead all aspects of risk management and mitigation to ensure Project success.
- Ensure adherence to Compliance and Audit Tracing needs for Projects.
- Assist in the planning and execution of weekly status and program management meetings.
- Mentor junior colleagues.
- Look for continuous improvement strategies and build upon current processes.

Who do we look for?
- Bachelor of Science in a Technical field or related subject area (commensurate experience can be substitute)
- PMP (or related) certification highly desirable. Agile certifications in Scrum, SAFe etc. preferred
- 7+ years’ Software Project Management experience in varied environments, especially Agile
- Familiarity with effective tools, techniques, and methodologies. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and PowerPoint)
- Comfortable working with remote team members.
- Solid track record in project leadership, project management, program strategy, scope & resource management.
- Analytical and meticulous with strong conflict resolution experience with excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to influence
- Ability to coordinate numerous activities with a multi-disciplinary team who need to communicate and collaborate to achieve success
- Experience in handling technical challenges, highly effective organization, negotiation, coordination, and presentation skills
