Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Strategic buyer supports the SPC in the development, implementation and coordination of the HFMG Procurement Strategy, and monitors the compliance of Group Purchasing activities with the strategy, such as:
  • Monitoring compliance of Group Purchasing with the HFM Group goals, CSR and Code of Conduct
  • Monitoring the achievement of the HFMG Purchasing goals and reporting of status to the SPC
  • Coordination and implementation review of special Group projects
This task includes the support of the SPC with
  • Coordination of HFMG Purchasing Departments
  • Investment requests for strategic procurement projects and preparation for presentation and approval to the Procurement Committee.
  • Coordination of the Strategic Purchasing Projects from the initial idea to the final implementation.

A special focus of the Strategic Buyer’s tasks being the
  • Support of Lead Buyers / Project Teams responsible for the different Material Subgroups (MSG) the in their task to implement the defined MSG strategies (Technical consulting and project management support), the main strategic thrusts being
  • MSGs (overall goals and strategies)
  • Products (analysis of product portfolio, evaluation of standardization potential, pushing standardization projects in cooperation with the design departments etc.)
  • Markets (market analysis, technology trends, assistance in development of HFMG to a state-of-the-art supplier concerning procured parts, components or machines)
  • Suppliers (preferred supplier method / strategic supplier development)
  • Processes (internal: intercompany; external: with suppliers)
  • Promotion of development of the MSG teams in a strategic direction as well as furtherance of team spirit and intercompany cooperation.
  • Support in the further development of the preferred and strategic suppliers of the HF Mixing Group

Information about the selection process

The Strategic buyer supports the Strategic Purchasing Coordinator in his/her tasks to such as:
  • Monitoring of the KPIs and status of strategic processes
  • Preparation of basis of make or buy decisions in cooperation with the Production Coordinator
  • Support in implementation and preparation of supplier forecasts based on the rolling sales forecast
  • Proposal of adequate procurement measures for cost-efficient and customer oriented operations as reaction to the actual or forecasted situation
  • Evaluation and development of efficient procedures and structures and assistance in simplification and standardization of operative purchasing processes in order to avoid redundant action and to reduce process costs and effort
  • Development of templates for Group documents related to purchasing, such as e.g. NDAs, framework agreements etc.

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Educational Specialization

Bachelor / Master in Engineering / Economics or comparable

Language skills

English - Proficiency (C2) and German - Advanced (C1)

  • Good SAP and MS-Office skills

  • Main place of work: one of the European HFMG subsidiaries
  • Regular travels to HFMG sister companies for coordination required
  • Travels to suppliers worldwide required - Which is include a 20% of travel time.
