Job description, responsibilities and duties
The workplace location can be Šurany, Nitra, or Bratislava, depending on the candidate’s preference and mutual agreement.
Lead and manage all mechanical engineering design activities for a large-scale industrial project, ensuring compliance with project requirements, Slovak regulations, European standards (EN), and industry best practices.
Oversee the design and coordination of mechanical systems, including HVAC, industrial ventilation, heating and cooling, compressed air, industrial gases, plumbing, utility systems, cleanroom environments, and BMS interfaces.
Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Process, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Architectural, Fire Protection, Automation, BIM, utility providers, and equipment suppliers to ensure seamless project integration.
Review, approve, and ensure the quality of all mechanical engineering deliverables, including concept, permit, tender, execution (IFC), and as-built documentation, calculations, specifications, and equipment schedules.
Provide technical leadership during procurement by preparing specifications, reviewing bids, evaluating technical submissions, supporting value engineering, and assisting with contractor selection.
Support construction and commissioning activities by responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and material submittals, resolving site technical issues, participating in inspections, and supporting system testing and project handover.
Lead mechanical BIM coordination, oversee clash detection and model development, and ensure compliance with project BIM standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor mechanical design progress, identify engineering risks and interface issues, prepare regular project reports, and drive quality, energy efficiency, sustainability, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design for large industrial projects.
Experience with battery manufacturing plants, automotive factories, semiconductor facilities, logistics centres, pharmaceutical plants, or similar industrial facilities is highly desirable.
Strong expertise in industrial HVAC, process cooling, utilities, plumbing, BMS, and fire protection coordination.
Good knowledge of Slovak construction legislation, European Standards (EN), permitting, quality, and risk management.
Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC, HVAC design software, and Microsoft Office
Proficiency in English and Slovak at a communicative level (minimum B2) – a requirement
Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to respond quickly to problems, analytical thinking, and thoroughness in problem-solving

Brief description of the company
GIB (Gotion InoBat Batteries) is the Joint venture between Slovakian start-up InoBat and Chinese Company Gotion High Tech, created to develop the first battery gigafactory in Slovakia in Šurany. The Šurany factory will be located on a 65-hectare area and will create thousands of jobs. In the initial development stage, it will have a capacity of 20 GWh, but it has the potential to reach a capacity of up to 40 GWh. The targeted start of production (“SOP”) in Q2/2026 and full-scale production is scheduled for 2027.
