Job description, responsibilities and duties
Lead the design and development of civil & structural engineering plans for large-scale industrial projects (e.g., manufacturing plants, logistics centers, production facilities), ensuring alignment with project specifications, client requirements, and constructability.
Review detailed design documents, calculations, drawings (GA, reinforcement, foundation), and BIM models, ensuring compliance with Slovak (STN), European (EN), and relevant industry codes, as well as safety and environmental regulations.
Collaborate closely with project managers, construction teams, procurement, process engineers, and other disciplines (mechanical, electrical) to ensure seamless integration of civil design into the overall project workflow and to resolve interface issues.
Provide technical solutions for civil engineering challenges, with a strong focus on foundation design (pile, raft), structural frames for industrial buildings, earthworks, drainage, and underground utilities.
Conduct design reviews, value engineering sessions, and feasibility studies to identify risks, optimize costs, and propose efficient, buildable solutions.
Lead and participate in BIM coordination meetings (e.g., using Revit, Navisworks), clash detection, and design alignment sessions to resolve conflicts promptly.
Ensure all designs and project activities adhere to Slovak building regulations, zoning laws, environmental permits (EIA), and health & safety (OSH) standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Act as the primary technical point of contact during construction, providing clarifications, reviewing submittals, performing site inspections, and resolving engineering issues that arise on-site.

Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
At least 3 years of prior experience in civil engineering design for large-scale industrial or commercial projects - a mandatory requirement
Previous experience with Design-Build and/or EPC project delivery models.
Advanced skills in industry-standard software: AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360, Navisworks/Trimble Connect for coordination, and structural analysis software (e.g., SCIA Engineer, RFEM, or similar).
Professional Certification: Eligible for and/or in possession of a valid Certificate of Professional Competence in Civil Engineering as per Slovak regulations (SKSI authorization)
Proficiency in English and Slovak at a communicative level (minimum B2) – a requirement (regular communication with customers and international colleagues)
Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to respond quickly to problems, analytical thinking, and thoroughness in problem-solving
Experience working in an international and multicultural environment
Microsoft Office – proficiency with the suite is required

Brief description of the company
GIB (Gotion InoBat Batteries) is the Joint venture between Slovakian start-up InoBat and Chinese Company Gotion High Tech, created to develop the first battery gigafactory in Slovakia in Šurany. The Šurany factory will be located on a 65-hectare area and will create thousands of jobs. In the initial development stage, it will have a capacity of 20 GWh, but it has the potential to reach a capacity of up to 40 GWh. The targeted start of production (“SOP”) in Q2/2026 and full-scale production is scheduled for 2027.
