Job description, responsibilities and duties


  • Ensure local project teams create plans, budgets, and schedules for facility purchases, construction and modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.
  • Continually assess indirect spend to ensure service levels and cost efficiency targets are met.  Establish program & project controls with aim of driving all facility services indirect spend through the preferred supplier base. Interact closely with Garrett finance community to ensure all cost benefits are validated, recognized and incorporated into all operating cost reports and capital plans. 
  • Act as internal SME with accountability for ensuring correct facilities project delivery under direct control or delivered through outsourced partner(s), ensuring that projects are successfully delivered on time, cost and quality.
  • Drive operational excellence and productivity improvement across a matrix management system in conjunction with Functional Business Partners and GTX expert partners.
  • Implement, and maintain program initiatives that adhere to organizational objectives
  • Develop program assessment protocols for evaluation and improvement of Garrett IFM operating model.
  • Develop and maintain organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance and embed a process of continual improvement to automate and to mature the Garrett real estate and facilities management operating models with focus on footprint utilization and functional productivity.
  • Work closely with project sponsor, cross-functional teams, and assigned project managers to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives
  • Identify and establish methodology to deliver key requirements needed from cross-functional teams and external vendors to support Garrett strategic initiatives
  • Develop and manage budgets and be accountable for delivering against established business goals/objectives
  • Analyze, evaluate, and overcome program risks, and produce regular standardized program reports for management and stakeholders

Personality requirements and skills

  • Relevant post-graduate qualification (eg RICS, IFMA, IWFM, 6-Sigma, Prince).
  • Demonstrable experience in progressive roles required with budget management, capacity planning, project management, OHSE, PPM, outsourcing, facilities procurement and/or process improvement responsibilities.
  • Strong customer service ethic and the ability to prioritize tasks and to handle complexity.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to deal effectively with change in a positive manner.
  • Proven supplier management and strong project/program management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Current and relevant knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, procedures within facilities management.
  • Ability to work independently, internationally/cross-culturally and in a team environment.
  • Desire to succeed and a general 'can do' attitude and ability to think creatively in pursuit of a solution. Willingness to “go the extra mile”.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a heavy engineering Production facility and/or a modern office building.
  • Comfort in dealing with ambiguity and continuous change in a fast-paced and growing multi-national organization.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for business trips (10-20 % of working time).
