Role summary/purpose of job

The primary purpose of the General Ledger Accountant role will be to ensure the firm’s transactions are recorded accurately and books closed to deadlines, demonstrating expertise in specific technical areas such as fixed assets, inter-company, prepayment and accrual accounting.

Key responsibilities and deliverables

• Assist Accurate and timely posting of Firm’s transactions, including bad debt provisioning, fixed asset accounting and depreciation; interoffice transactions and journals.
• Preparation and accounting for accruals, prepayment and corrections.
• Creation Completion of month end close activities in line with Firm’s timetable (monthly closings).
• Regular reconciliation of GL accounts, ensuring that all transactions are understood and justified.
• Cross Close collaboration with the Control Accountant team to ensure that they have access to all required information
• Identification and delivery of continuous improvement opportunities and participation in cross-departmental projects, as required
• Assist with audit requests & tasks
• Communication with internal customers in order to resolve issues and ad hoc requests.

Essential

• Clear and confident communicator, both verbal and written.
• Willingness to learn and remain flexible with day-to-day delivery within the scope of General Ledger activity.
• Curious mindset to spot recurring process issues and influence change and continuous improvement.
• Meticulous eye for detail, exceptional organisational skills, and a practical approach to problem solving.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Outlook
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluent in English


Desirable

• Experience of working as a customer of Global Shared Services
• Knowledge and understanding of General Ledger processes
• Competency in German or another European language
