Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Product Owner reports to the VP of Product and is responsible for helping to drive the
market success of ZOOM’s Media Capture, Workforce Engagement Management, and Platform product portfolio. This role is responsible for defining stories, communicating product requirements, organizing and prioritizing the team backlog, communicating with partners and customers, and facilitating the execution of feature development and communications so as to streamline the execution of development priorities. The Product Owner maintains conceptual and technical integrity of the features or components for which the team is responsible. You will be responsible for the developing the next generation of ZOOM products and will have tremendous opportunity to contribute to the success of the industry’s leading Media Capture and Workforce Optimization solution.

Core Responsibilities:
● The current position will be assigned to work directly with a Product Manager on one of
the primary areas of focus for the ZOOM product portfolio:
○ Workforce Engagement Management
○ Media Capture
○ Platform
● As a member of the product management team, the Product Owner is the main point of
contact and decision maker on key requirements and features to the development team.
● The Product Owner is responsible for gathering input from and managing expectations
of all major stakeholders in the software development cycle including product
management, marketing, customer support, scrum master, project management, and
development team members through meetings, chartering and design sessions.
● The Product Owner is responsible for leading team meetings, standups, owning
communications to stakeholders and generally. Be the face of the product in all
meetings and updates.
● Key activities include managing requirements, use cases, documentation and user
stories for the current sprint as well as refining and preparing for subsequent sprints.
● The Product Owner is responsible for delivering development-ready items to the
development teams prior to initiation of work as well as ensuring the team’s execution
aligns with the definition of done.
● Develop strong relationships with all development and business stakeholders in order to ensure timely and effective delivery of software features and defect resolution.
● Requirements Gathering
○ The Product Owner works with the Product Managers, Marketing Managers,
Customer Support, Professional Services, Customers, Partners and Prospects to
understand requirements and convert to actionable items on the backlog.
○ The Product Owner is accountable for synchronizing development team backlog
activities, user story creation, acceptance criteria and loading into our
feature/requirement tracking tool
● Product Release / Planning:
○ The Product Owner transforms product vision from Product Management into
actionable release backlogs
○ The Product Owner works with the Product Manager to manage the product
backlog pulling items which provide the most value to the customer into the
release backlog in preparation for release planning
○ The Product Owner also has a significant role in the planning event itself as the
main point of contact for questions and clarification of user stories.
○ The Product Owner has the primary responsibility to build, refine, and maintain
the product backlog.
○ The backlog consists mostly of user stories, but also includes defects, technical
debt, platform and infrastructure work
○ Backlog items are prioritized based on impact, effort, resource constraints, time
and other team dependencies which are determined in Release Planning
○ During Release Planning, the Product Owner is involved with user story
definition, writing acceptance criteria, providing clarifications necessary to assist
the team with their story estimates, sprint planning, story sequencing, and
drafting the team's specific objectives for the upcoming sprints
● Monitor ongoing performance of features and act as point of contact for questions,
concerns and suggestions
● Provide input on test strategy and test cases, being an advocate of quality solutions that
meet or exceed defined customer expectations
● Perform reviews with key internal stakeholders & commercial customers throughout the
design lifecycle to ensure alignment on solution designs and requirements
● The Product Owner is responsible for leading team meetings, scrum ceremonies,
owning communications to stakeholders and generally, be the face of the product in all
meetings and updates
● Holds self and project team accountable for their deliverables to ensure timely, cost
effective project execution
● Is a demo-master of their product areas and an authoritative product expert on their
specific area of responsibility leveraging market and product knowledge to assist internal
and external teams in sales engagements, escalations and more.

communications environments and systems. The Product Owner at ZOOM must be comfortable working closely with executives, sales, marketing, engineering, and professional services, as well as with prospects, customers, and partners in a diverse, global company.
