We are looking for a security awareness writer to contribute to building global PR campaigns and to support the award-wining cybersecurity blog WeLiveSecurity.com (WLS). The position is located within ESET’s highly motivated and fast-paced Global Sales & Marketing Division.
You will research security technology, news, and other developments in order to write articles about the latest cybersecurity incidents, technologies, regulations, standards, and malware discoveries.

Once grounded in core security industry topics, you will support research communications originating from the ESET malware research team and technology division. Developing further in this role, which is situated within the Global PR Team, you will be in constant touch with WLS’s senior editor in English, colleagues from other language branches (DE, SPA, PT, FR), editorial staff, and external contributors.

At this challenging position you will:
• Support our security experts in growing an audience for ESET
• Report on the latest security trends in cybersecurity and the wider tech industry
• Provide support for security awareness topics with our content publication calendar
• Work with researchers and authors on sharing new discoveries
• Help define new topics that align with ESET’s communication strategy
• Keep contact with the senior editor of WLS English and other WLS language editors
• Track current news about IT security for daily/weekly coverage on WLS
• Ensure new articles are written according to WLS guidelines
• Study and employ current SEO practices to improve content performance
• Extend your growing experience with ESET security to colleagues in less technical roles in a consultancy role
• Support a limited number of high-value PR and/or content marketing campaigns, leveraging WLS’s strong position on the cybersecurity content landscape

Requirements for the employee

Personality requirements and skills

• Academic degree in: Engineering/Technology -or- Journalism/Communications, with English as a second language. (Native Speakers are encouraged to apply)
• 2+ years of experience with public communications in online/print media, ideally with a technology focus
• English language on advanced level (C1/C2)
Experience blogging, plus a demonstrated passion for tech, cybersecurity, and privacy topics (publicly referenceable content is a plus; e.g., own blog)
• Keen interest in IT (especially in IT security)
• Self-motivation, strong self-study and editing skills
• Ability to reprioritize rapidly changing topics and collaboration partners
• Additional languages a plus: Spanish, French, German, Portuguese

The beginnings of ESET date back to 1987, when two young programming enthusiasts, Peter Paško and Miroslav Trnka, wrote a program for the detection of one of the world’s first computer viruses. They did not know that they had created one of the most successful antivirus programs in the world – dubbing it NOD.
