Job description, responsibilities and duties

This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional strategic marketeer to lead brand strategy, drive the operational delivery of strategy and ensure company’s effective media presence. Global Brand and Media Manager is based at the global Headquarters of ESET, in Bratislava and offers attractive career progression opportunities within ESET Global & Regional Marketing roles.

Join the team and be responsible for:
• Brand: building brand awareness of ESET, establishing correct brand associations and for formulating and delivering key brand elements whilst ensuring brand consistency across the business, partners and resellers included. Brand elements are including but not limited to brand guidelines, brand strategies and tactics such as partnerships, sponsorships, content and advertising campaigns.
• Insight: Use brand and media data and insights to measure ESET’s brand state (awareness, preferences and perceptions, positioning, consideration, loyalty etc.). Evaluate results of ESET’s brand efforts and executed brand campaigns and sponsorships. Collect data and create benchmarks.
• Media: Understand and be able to apply your knowledge of media landscape (from planning and buying point of view), demonstrate a wide degree of creativity and a strong interest in shaping ESET brand, image and values through appropriate media channels.
• Strategy: Design and create top management buy-in for ESET brand strategy, brand story, brand guidelines, value proposition, brand comms and overall experience. Define tactics and goals to support ESET’s brand strategy.
• Partnerships: Lead evaluation and co-lead negotiations for major future international partnerships and sponsorships, liaising with potential partners/agencies, ESET marketing/sales/finance/legal and regional/country leaders as well as ESET top management.
• Lead Teams: Build, from the ground up, and manage Global Brand and Media team of strong performers. Motivate the team members and make sure they learn and educate themselves in order to become respected subject matter experts (hard-skills) and develop their soft-skills in order to smoothen the cross-team collaboration.
• Execution: Define tactics and set smart targets for the team, guide integration/execution of global marketing and sales strategies relevant from brand point of view. Be responsible for brand and media budget planning, tracking and spending. Drive messaging consistency across global and local customer touchpoints from brand point of view.
• Collaboration: Actively build mid to senior level stakeholder relations and contribute to productive and close cooperation within other global and regional marketing teams, global online marketing, global sales, segment divisions, finance, and HR/support teams.

Personality requirements and skills

We welcome candidates with:
• At least 4 years of experience with market insight, marketing strategy, brand strategy, brand consultancy, media planning, media buying, brand marketing, partnerships, sponsorships
• Preferably international experience gained in large company in technology sector
• Fluent English language (C1/C2 ideally)
• Ability to lead cross-functional, international teams: by prioritizing, planning, and organizing work and deliverables, collaboratively ensuring teams’ output quality and on time delivery
• Intercultural competence and knowledge of the market ecosystem on global level (most important: Europe and North America)
• Advanced ability in strategy/concept creation and business case formulation
• Both big picture and detail oriented, with ability to view topics holistically (end to end) but also break down into phases (step by step)
• Understanding of media industry, audience and media trends and an ability to produce innovative and original ideas that are executable
• Brand and audience oriented
• Demonstrable experience in building effective media campaigns, sponsorships or partnerships
• Proven track record of producing strategic marketing, media and communications content
• Ability and willingness to frequently travel internationally/intercontinentally
• Ability to combine strong data analytics understanding with creativity
• Sense of ownership, flexibility, goal, output, and impact/results orientation accepting tight deadlines
• Understanding and affinity for the IT (security) sector and IT buyers (residential, business) is an advantage


Brief description of the company

The beginnings of ESET date back to 1987, when two young programming enthusiasts, Peter Paško and Miroslav Trnka, wrote a program for the detection of one of the world’s first computer viruses. They did not know that they had created one of the most successful antivirus programs in the world – dubbing it NOD. In 1992, together with their mutual friend Rudolf Hrubý, they formally established ESET.

What started as the brainchild of a few friends has evolved into the most valuable international brand of any Slovak company. Today ESET’s NOD32 technology protects over 100 million users across the world.

This success did not come overnight. The company’s global success and growth was given a boost in 1998 with its first “VB100” award from the prestigious Virus Bulletin magazine. Since then, we’ve received this accolade more than 100 times.

Today, over 1,600 employees around the world drive the company’s success – a telling increase from 3 in 1987 and 135 in 2006. Almost 900 of them are based in Slovakia, the home of ESET headquarters.

Throughout the company’s expansion, we have stayed true to the principles on which we were founded, and we remain independent in order to continue to meet new challenges.
