Job description, responsibilities and duties

The IT Governance Manager is primarily responsible for building and managing the IT Governance team at ESET. The IT Governance team’s primary focus is on the creation, implementation and documentation of standardized processes within the IT Division of ESET HQ and ESET companies. IT Governance also oversees compliance, business requirements analysis, project management, enterprise and system architecture, and financial planning/budgeting/tracking within the IT Division. The IT Governance Manager is a very hands-on type of role.
- Build and manage the IT Governance team at ESET.
- Creating and maintaining IT process documentation.
- Standardization of process across IT departments within the ESET Group of companies.
- Implementation of standardized process and monitoring of process compliance.
- Implementation of best practices from ITIL, Agile, Prince 2 and others.
- Financial analysis and business views of IT expenses, budgeting and tracking of expenses.
- Centralize project management and project management methodology.
- Oversee enterprise and system architecture within IT at ESET.

Requirements for the employee

Required education

Secondary with school-leaving examination
Follow-up/Higher Professional Education
University education (Bachelor's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Advanced (C1)

Personality requirements and skills

- 10+ years of work experience, especially in the area of IT Governance or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in people management, team leadership.
- Experience in IT and IT service management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ITIL, Agile, Prince 2.
- Experience with project management, IT architecture is a plus.
- Experience with financial analysis and budgeting is a plus.
- Business and process analysis skillset.
- Fluency in business and technical English is required.
- Structured, systematic and analytical thinking.
- Experience with working in international teams is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Strong time management and prioritization.
- Flexibility, reliability, responsible approach.
- Good communication skills, self-reliance, self-confidence.
- Ability to discuss issues with technical developers as well as business managers.
- Good presentation and writing skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.


Brief description of the company

The beginnings of ESET date back to 1987, when two young programming enthusiasts, Peter Paško and Miroslav Trnka, wrote a program for the detection of one of the world’s first computer viruses. They did not know that they had created one of the most successful antivirus programs in the world – dubbing it NOD. In 1992, together with their mutual friend Rudolf Hrubý, they formally established ESET.

What started as the brainchild of a few friends has evolved into the most valuable international brand of any Slovak company. Today ESET’s NOD32 technology protects over 100 million users across the world.

This success did not come overnight. The company’s global success and growth was given a boost in 1998 with its first “VB100” award from the prestigious Virus Bulletin magazine. Since then, we’ve received this accolade more than 80 times.
