Summary
Senior Data Engineer for the DXC global DataHub, and its data ingestion solutions, as part of the Innovation & Automation group. The global team charter is to create and automate BigData solutions for DXC clients as part of the DXC platformX offering, in a hybrid cloud environment. Refer to press releases below.


Essential Job Functions
• Creation of data ingestion solutions in a large-scale data hub
• Engineering of new solutions and maintenance of existing solutions in Python
• Partnership with the reporting teams to use data from the datahub, and understanding of the business requirements to define precisely frequency of ingestion, list of data fields, DB relationships
• This is part of the BigData team inside DXC platform X (global solutions, see URL’s above)


Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor's degree in BigData/Data-lakes, applied mathematics, computer science or related field preferred
• 8+ years of experience in data analytics, data engineering and/or modeling
• Experience with multi-dimensional and/or relational databases such as NoSQL, OLAP, and others
• Experience in manipulating high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varied sources using big data integration and analysis tools such as R, Matlab, SAS
• Experience with data cleansing, validation and general quality control principles


Other Qualifications
• Basic programming skills and familiarity in Java, Scala, Python, and/or similar
• Basic problem-solving skills to understand business challenges
• Basic communication skills both oral and written
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and switch between tasks quickly
• Work & Office Environment


Essential Skills/Qualifications:
• Demonstrate high level of proficiency in Python and Java
• Experience with Database development (relational, columnar and NoSQL) and ElasticSearch
• Experience with AWS Cloud platforms (S3, Encryption keys, EC2, Lambda, Glue, Step Function, EMR)
• Skills in AWS, Python, Spark, Hive, Java, Scala

Additional Qualifications:
• Ability to rapidly learn and develop new skills, largely on one’s own by staying in tune with the market and emerging technologies and techniques
• Ability to work closely with others in a fast-paced and collaborative technical setting
• Ability to refactor and modularize codebases
• Experience working with DevOps Methodology (Scrum, Jira, Github, Jenkins)
• Understanding of selected real time transactional applications is a plus
