Job description, responsibilities and duties
Job description:
- Act as system engineer for TV and Media Entertainment technology development related projects including multiple, cross-country TV and Media service developments and deployments, focusing on backend components, like, but not limited to, Content Management Systems (CMS), media signal transcoding (Head-End) and encryption (DRM), streaming AV pipes including Content Delivery Networks (CDN) and core TV and Media platforms
- Troubleshoot streaming and integration issues
- Develop, setup, and perform test suites for Video Streaming. Analyze, aggregate and report test results
- Actively participate in preparation of Low Level Solution Designs and technical Functional and Non-Functional Requirement Specification as well as acceptance test procedures
- Create Low Level Design and Deployment Procedure Description
- Provide technical solution for the TV platform and subsystems depending on the project objectives
- Coordination and vendor management of internal and external vendors within the projects – on demand
- Prepare and evaluate integration plans of new technology components
- Review technical studies and design proposals for applications
- Review API integration plans

Key Performance Indicators / Key responsibilities and deliverables:
- As part of the Detsche Telekom Pan-Net TV Backend Development Department, the engineer is supporting the planning and integration of Entertainment IT backends – a.k.a OTT TV, IPTV, and HybridTV solutions
- Responsible for the implementation of relevant technical applications. This may include managing external partners and suppliers from technical viewpoint
- Responsible for planning and integration of Entertainment Media Backend solutions and components (IT and Media Streaming BackEnds and their surrounding components)
- Support Total Costs of Ownership calculations, Capacity dimensioning, etc
- Provide Architectural guidance, cooperate with senior experts and Solution Architects
- Education:The successful candidate will ideally have a degree in the field of science, engineering or computing. Specific knowledge or experience of Media Streaming systems and associated subsystems engineering will be highly desirable.
- Professional knowledge, skills, know-how in the field & experience in the field:At least 4 years of experience in international IT companies (e.g. tier1 telco or IT service provider)
- Deep grasp of Network protocols such as TCP, IP, HTTP, and network protocol analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark)
- Considered as a big plus: proven track record in IPTV / OTT TV, video on demand, media delivery systems or any other broadcast, streaming or content management related technologies/projects
- Proven track record in documentation, standardization and test protocol creation, process/workflow planning, service migration (at least in two)
- Familiarity with/knowledge of cloud technologies like Openstack, AWS, Azure are considered as big plus
- Language skills:English language – fluent (excellent verbal and written communication skills)
- Hungarian language is plus
- Interpersonal, communication skills:Proven ability/experience working in a multi layered international matrix organization
- Experience in working with international teams (direct & indirect) from different cultural backgrounds and experience in managing external resources ensuring clarity, collaboration and efficiency
- Excellent team player
- Strong analytical skills; the ability to see at both the helicopter view and focus on details, if required
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak and write at both senior and junior levels within the organization
