Job description, responsibilities and duties
As an Application Engineer you will maintain and support an application used by our chief investment team in their decision-making. On top of this you will also have a chance to interact with multiple applications within the Asset Management landscape. You will experience agile working environment in Asset Management department.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Develop and support the existing front office risk reporting framework and the planned replacement
- Design and implement high quality business-focused technical solutions
- Liaise with our partners to capture requirements
- Provide out of hours support where required
Required:
- A degree in a technical field or shown experience in Information Technology is required
- Significant working experience with Java, JEE
- Good general Unix skills (system monitoring, ssh configuration, process control, shell scripting)
- Min. 3 years' experience with a relational database platform (preferably Oracle) and practical knowledge of SQL is required
- Ability to work with issue tracking, source control and continuous integration tools
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Good social skills with orientation on customers and flexible mindset
- Good command of English (both verbal and written) is required
What can make the difference aka the plus:
- Experience with business intelligence tools such as Business Objects
- Validated experience in all application tiers - user interface, client / server applications, backend processing and databases
- Experience of designing and writing effective unit and regression tests
- Experience in developing web-based applications (HTML5, Angular, GWT, Node.js, TypeScript…)
- Experience with Web services (REST, WSDL, …)
- Understanding of data modelling concepts
- Experience of Excel and VBA
- Exposure to Financial Markets and understanding of financial products
- Familiarity with agile frameworks and tooling (Scrum, Kanban)
