Senior/Medior Software Test Engineer

The primary responsibility of the Software Test Engineer will be for the development and execution of Software Verification, Validation (V&V) and Test activities for the medical device product software.  He/she may also work on the validation/qualification projects of selected software tools used to develop the product software.  This individual reports to Quality Assurance (QA) organization and will work proactively with cross functional team members on the software V&V.  This position represents an exciting opportunity to join an innovative and high performing team and influence design and development in the early stages.

Responsibilities, Skills & Hands-On Experience

• Understand (or can be trained in) FDA regulations and related Software standards.
• Review and understand Software Requirements Specification.
• Review and understand Software Architecture and Detailed Design.
• Develop test scripts for integration testing on selected software modules.
• Develop test scripts for end-to-end system validation testing.
• Prepare Software V&V documentation, including but not limited to, plans, protocols, and reports.
• Find, investigate, and report product problems; in particular, software bugs encountered during V&V.
• Possess knowledge of common software testing methodologies/techniques/types: White Box, Black Box, Grey Box, Load Testing, Stress Testing, Smoke Testing, Positive Testing, Negative Testing, API Testing, Simulation, Ad Hoc Testing, etc.
• Possess knowledge of Linux (or, UNIX-like) Operating System(s), Embedded Systems, and/or Cloud Services.

Education & Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or relevant technical field with a minimum of [5+ (for Senior) or 3+ (for Medior)] years of experience in Engineering and/or Quality.
• Ability to program and test in a Linux based (or, UNIX-like) environment.
• Ability to author Software V&V/Test Plans, Protocols and Reports.
• Ability to design Software Test Cases and write Test Scripts (both automatic and manual, with automatic test scripts preferred).
• Familiar with C/C++, Python and/or Java programming languages and their respecting coding style guides.
• Experience with software configuration/version control tools; e.g., git.
• Experience with popular Issue/Defect Tracking Systems; e.g., Jira.
• Exposure to medical robotics is a plus; in particular, knowledge of Robotic Controls, Physics, Kinetic Energy, or 3D Motion Control will be a big plus.
• Experience with test automation is a plus.
• Ability to design test tools using hardware fixtures or popular electronics (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc.) is a plus.
• Familiar with Static Analysis Tools (e.g., cppcheck, Clang Static Analyzer, Coverity, etc.) is a plus.
