Job summary

We are looking for a dedicated associate to join our Energy Team. The ideal candidate will have two-three years of experience in the energy sector as an associate and a strong passion for supporting innovative, high-impact projects.

The role requires a combination of technical expertise in the energy industry, a commercial mindset, and a solid understanding of energy markets and regulations, along with experience working on both domestic and cross-border projects.

As part of the team, you will play an active role in supporting energy transactions, advising clients on regulatory and contractual matters, and ensuring projects progress smoothly.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting multiple energy projects, including renewable energy developments, conventional power plants, utilities, energy trading, and related infrastructure projects,
  • Handling transactions and projects, coordinating closely with colleagues across the office,
  • Participating in due diligence investigations, contract negotiations, and regulatory compliance matters,
  • Assisting with permitting procedures, licensing, and approvals for energy projects,
  • Collaborating with other teams in the office (corporate, banking and finance, real estate, regulatory, and dispute resolution),
  • Managing, coordinating, and supervising the work of junior team members,
  • Supporting the broader team in business development and raising the firm’s profile,
  • Building professional client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor,
  • Actively participating in marketing activities, conferences, and business development events.

Requirements

  • Slovak qualified lawyer with a Master of Laws degree from a Slovak Faculty of Law,
  • 2–3 years of full time experience as an advocate, preceded by three years of experience as a concipient, with a focus on the energy sector,
  • Excellent Slovak and English verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in another language is an advantage, but not essential,
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail,
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and willingness to accept increased responsibility,
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment,
  • Experience in other practice areas (e.g. corporate, public procurement, real estate or competition) is an advantage,
  • Advantage: Previous experience in a leading international law firm or highly recognized regional law firm,
  • A post-graduate degree (an LLM) from a well-recognized and reputable academic institution is also an advantage.
