About the position:
The Project Manager is responsible for the effective project management, coordination, and monitoring of a portfolio of activities, including Ukraine, Moldova and Lebanon. The role combines hands-on project management, including financial management with programmatic oversight ensuring that projects align with strategic objectives, donor requirements, and regional priorities. It also requires identification of funding opportunities and mobilization of funding through project applications. The job requires strong project management experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Management
Lead day-to-day management of assigned projects, including planning, budgeting, implementation oversight, risk management, and timely reporting.
Conduct occasional field visits to programme intervention sites to monitor implementation of project activities.
Ensure participation and accountability of affected populations within assigned programmatic activities.
Work independently and lead the development of new project proposals and programmatic activities to address the needs of affected populations.
Ensure the preparation and review of monthly and weekly work plans, and submit internal monthly and ad hoc financial and narrative reports on the implementation of the assigned programmatic portfolio and projects in compliance with donor requirements.
Organise and participate in regular internal team meetings, programme meetings, and other internal or external project coordination mechanisms.
Partner & Stakeholder Coordination
Maintain regular communication with donors, local partners, civil society organisations, and external stakeholders to support effective collaboration.
Actively participate in meetings in Slovakia relevant to the assigned programmatic portfolios, ensuring appropriate reporting and promotion of the People in Peril programme.
Grant & Compliance Oversight
Coordinate with donors within assigned projects in Slovakia and abroad; ensure that all assigned project activities comply with donor rules, including financial reports, internal policies, and monitoring & evaluation standards.
Monitoring & Learning
Support data collection, review progress against indicators, identify best practices, and contribute to programme learning across the region.
Maintain regular contact with MEAL teams to ensure appropriate Monitoring and Evaluation is conducted for each project
Strategic Input
Contribute to programme design, analysis of the regional context, and support the development of new project proposals and concept notes.
Maintain regular contact with Ukraine PIP team and local partners in Moldova and Lebanon in order to develop strategic programme opportunities, identify emerging needs, and support new project development.

The successful candidate:
Holds a higher education degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Management, or a relevant field.
Has experience with donors and project management in Slovakia
Has at least 2–3 years of experience in humanitarian or development project management; field experience in Ukraine or Eastern Europe is a strong asset.
Has proven experience in project cycle management, budget management, and donor compliance.
Has experience in building donor relations and developing project proposals.
Possesses strong analytical and writing skills, including project reporting.
Is fluent in written and spoken English and Slovak (C1); proficiency in another language is an advantage.
Is willing and able to travel to different countries including Ukraine and Moldova and other countries as necessary.
Is able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Has strong organisational, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
Has excellent knowledge of IT tools, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
Is resident in Slovakia
