SAP Basis Architect

This role is responsible for all the build activities related to Basis architecture and engineering services for CLARIOS SAP system landscape consistent with CLARIOS policies. Responsible for providing Basis architecture roadmap, design, planning and coordination of all SAP Basis activities including but not limited to: NetWeaver architecture, System landscape, sizing & planning for Installations and Upgrades, Performance Tuning, Troubleshooting, Problem Analysis and Problem Resolution for SAP systems landscape.

This role combines business strategy and industry best practices to set SAP platform direction that is strategically aligned and business value-focused. Works with cross-functional business/IT teams and IT Business Partners in translating business demand into actionable roadmaps. Ensures successful plan, build, test, and run of SAP platforms.

This individual needs to drive continuous improvement to stabilize/rationalize existing SAP application landscapes and needs to have the ability to deliver build (project work) and enhancements on time and under budget while following Clarios SAP platform standards.


What you will do
• Technical Acumen: This individual owns the Basis platform architecture of SAP applications and other front-end SAP tools deployed for SAP users. This role will also build high-level SAP Basis Roadmap to keep the application up to date.

• Application Portfolio Management: Works with IT business partners, business, and external partners to enhance business capabilities while simplifying the landscape over time. Manages a portfolio of current, compliant, supported applications (mainly SAP platforms at NetWeaver layer) the business can rely on.

• Application Development “BUILD”: Leads the technical design, development, testing and implementation of IT applications in the area of responsibility through operating a metrics-based management system. Provides internal and external staffing to meet the needs of the approved project portfolio and planned SAP platform enhancements. . Accountable for ensuring external vendor solution delivery to standard architecture and high quality.

• Application Support “RUN” L3 Support: Responsible for providing level 3 SAP Basis support for any production issues. May be required to lead the resolution to any major incident related to SAP platform / applications. Accountable to manage external vendor SAP Basis solution delivery to standard architecture and high quality. Signs off on root cause analysis of failures and permanent corrective actions.

• Business Alignment: Meets with user management and staff to understand business requirements and to determine system requirements. Works with customers to define and prioritize improvement initiatives. Assists in building strategic roadmaps and aligning the business initiatives with IT initiatives to shape the IT vision and strategy.

• Business Case Development: Assists business facing IT in developing business case and overall project strategies including project plans for major efforts that satisfy the business needs of that functional area for review and approval by management.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide work effort and cost estimates to business relationship and PMO teams as requested.
• Responsible for creating project solution proposals (including architecture) for SAP Platform projects and enhancements.
• Responsible for the approval of technical solutions delivered by internal and external 3rd party to assure the development and configuration according to SAP Basis/NetWeaver standards.
• Work in collaboration with other IT delivery teams to ensure compatibility of designs and consistent delivery practices.
• Ensure design and delivery of solutions compliant with IT General Controls and SOX.
• Responsible for overall quality of solution delivery and successful cutover and launch activities.
• Develop and facilitates strategies in the area of system, data and application integration, ensuring that interfaces are properly identified, designed, and implemented
• Support application teams from SAP basis side for SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) solutions using Web Services (REST/SOAP) and other integration technologies
• Analyze industry, technology and market trends to determine their potential impacts on the enterprise and specifically on SAP Technology platform
• Responsible for long-term care and feeding of SAP Platforms in the area of responsibility around the globe. Also responsible for the establishment of health measurements and investment proposals to prevent inadvertent aging or failures.
• Act as a SAP Basis resource/SME during other projects as required

What we are looking for
• BS Degree in Information Technology or similar field.
• At least 10 years of IT experience of which 7+ years of hands on SAP Basis experience in administration, architecture, design , Implementation and performance tuning of SAP systems.
• Technology upgrade projects experience, preferably with SAP Data Center Migrations and HANA Migrations in a global, manufacturing organization.
• Proven hands on experience in SAP upgrades, migrations and performance tuning and architecture design for both ABAP and Java Stack systems.
• Experience developing and enforcing standards: Basis architecture, environment, landscape, systems refresh for SAP landscape.
• Demonstrable experience in Technical project management, planning and estimation.
• Should have worked in a large scale SAP solution environments, with responsibility for technical solution landscape design and implementation planning
• SAP Certifications in NetWeaver, migrations and HANA DB is preferred
• Strong experience/skills in tuning SAP NetWeaver and HANA DB applications from Basis side.
• Experience supporting SAP applications in a 24x7x365 manufacturing environment.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills and problem solving skills.
• Action oriented, with the ability to understand and willingness to get into systems development details when warranted. “Do what it takes” attitude.
• Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to convert business needs into system requirements.

• Willingness to travel internationally to support job responsibilities as required. (Approx. 20%)

The starting salary is 2 100 EUR/month gross for candidates who meet our minimum criteria.
